Does anyone else think this? (Anchorman related)

Well I just went out and got the movie today and I got it home and decided to watch it. Now for some reason it didnt seem as funny the second time around but that didnt bother me. I was happy that they were gonna have Will Farrell do the commentary for the film so I was waiting to here how funny that was gonna be.

Well I put it in and started to listen to the commentary and it is honestly pure crap. For the first 10-14 minutes its just cussing and bleeps and is nothing about the movie in anyway and is in no way funny. After the first few minutes I just decided to stop it because it wasnt worth it anymore.

Did anyone do this and feel the same?

I continued to love it the second time, as well as most of the DVD features. Wake Up, Ron Burgundy wasn't really as funny as Anchorman and the editing was weird with some stuff. I'm glad I bought it all, though.

Haven't listened to the commentary yet, though.

No, I try to avoid causing myself pain.

I never listen to the commentary for the very reason you mentioned Shaggy.

I honestly don't think I have ever listened to the commentary on a DVD.

What exactly is Wake Up, Ron Burgundy CoE? I know its cut scenes from the theatrical release, but is it actually a standalone movie with a plot etc...or just a collection of scenes?

Triple A 12-29-2004 01:36 AM

Commentary on most movies is like that.

Also, the first time, I thought the movie was "alright" but then I watched it again on DVD and it was hilarious the second time for some reason.

It has a plot, and some pritty lmao scenes like Ron Burgundy's segment, "TEAR THE LID OFF OF IT!" Yet, the editing isn't great for the plot. It's obvious that some subplots were supposed to be inserted into the movie at some points. The narrator keeps explaining things because stuff wasn't filmed for it. The editing through me off most, though.

Like in the beginning of it, it is said that Burgundy and Corningstone are co-anchors and dating. Then we go on a date with them, and its obviously supposed to be a part of their first date. She keeps referring to him as "Mr. Burgundy" and they go to the San Fransisco view place again, etc. It annoyed me. It had some good laughs, though.

comedy DVD's are generally the ones to look to for commentary, otherwise you're in for a boring long night.

spinal taps dvd commentary is fucking brilliant.

"he's dead now"
"no he isn't, stop saying that, it's really quite depressing"

Robert Rodriguez commentaries are always great if you're just really into filmmaking. He's fun to listen to and he gives a lot of insight.

Kapoutman 12-29-2004 04:07 AM

I've listened to some commentaries that were really worth it. Weird Al on UHF would be a good example.

ALRIGHT I'LL EAT THE SHIT. I'LL EAT THE WHOLE HUNK OF SHIT, I DON'T CARE.

By the way, you got bleeps and shit in your commentary because you didn't get the Unrated version. On the Unrated the commentary is uncut.

Citizen Kane commentary by Roger Ebert is the best I have ever heard.

I got the Unrated version....I never even saw a rated version out.

Its not all bleeps, there is cussing but just some words are bleeped. It says on the back of the dvd that its the almost uncensored commentary. But it is that Unrated version because I got it at Best Buy and made sure it was.
