Rate The Wrestler - Day 126 - Yokozuna

Well with Helmsphere and Funky Fly on vacation right now I figured I might as well do one. Today's wrestler was one of the WWF's biggest heels and beat both Bret Hart and HULK Hogan for both of his title reigns and also a relative of Wrestler gone Hollywood, The Rock. He is Yokozuna, vote on. (Yeah Marvel, I said Hulk Hogan).

Current Top 10 Leaderboard
T-1st Bret "Hitman" Hart (96)
T-1st Kurt Angle (96)
T-1st Tully Blanchard (96)
T-3rd Owen Hart (95)
T-3rd "Million Dollar Man" Ted DeBiase (95)
5th "Ravishing" Rick Rude (94)
6th "Stone Cold" Steve Austin (93)
T-7th Brian Pillman (92)
T-7th "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels (92)
T-7th "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson (92)
T-7th The Rock (92)
T-7th "Rowdy" Roddy Piper (92)

I remember really hating him.

Good big man, good gimmick, was pushed very to begin with, then he turned face and it all went downhill

Are you sure your allowed to do RTW threads?

RemyRed 12-30-2004 06:26 AM

I figured it should be okay since Ken Shamrock's day has been up since the 27th, someone's gotta babysit the RTW Threads don't they? :)

Mr. Nerfect 12-30-2004 06:31 AM

I applaud you for keeping this up. :y:

Yokozuna gets an 8 from me.

Funky Fly 12-30-2004 07:13 AM

I really used to hate this guy as a kid, especially because he cheated to beat both Hart and Hogan. He was a pretty good wrestler for a large man.

I remember a few years ago he did an amazing looking 450 Splash during an Indy Fed event I attended.

Good wrestler for a big guy and a great presence. He never needed to say anything, but you knew he could kill you.

8.4, he was something else. How can you not be afraid of a huge sumo wrestler that can move around almost like one of the cruiserweights? BONZAI!!!

DIdn't he die in the early 90's? :?: 8.5

RemyRed 12-30-2004 09:53 PM

Nah, I don't remember exactly but it was around the early 2000's I believe, the 450 splash thing was a joke though.

No, he was in the WWF from 1992-1996, then died in 2000 or 2001.

And I'll give him a 7.9.

better than half the roster even if he weighed 500 pounds or so

HeartBreakMan2k 12-31-2004 04:18 PM

7.3, I really really wish I could score him higher.

Decent in ring work, good presence, but honestly, if I had a choice of watching some Triple H matches and some Yokozune matches...eh...well I think you see were I am going with this. I don't count him a legend, as he never chanced a damn thing about the promotion, and before anyone throws his WWF(E) Title reigns in my face, let's remember why he was given the belt in the first place, cause Hogan didn't want to pass the tourch to Hart. Wasn't as loveable as Andre, not as good of a big man mover as Bam Bam (or even Rikishi), and never spoke so I wasn't moved that way. Good booking and ring presence was all this guy had going for him. Plus he wasn't a sloppy mess in the ring, he gets an exactly average 5.
