Coach Carter

So who is planning to see this movie? Trailer is pretty good. That adaptation of Phil Collins in they air tonight by Nonpoint is also a great song

Splaya 12-31-2004 01:33 PM

I saw it (the trailer), and since I'm a big fan of basketball movies, I will definitely see it, probably opening weekend.

BCWWF 12-31-2004 04:58 PM

Yeah I think it looks really good. I was a big fan of Friday Night Lights and I assume it will be very similar

Triple A 12-31-2004 05:28 PM

It looks like the stupidest, most cliche shit I have ever seen in my entire life. It looks like it is a joke.

"You take away basketball so you can challenge them academically?"

You haven't been to those ghetto's have you. Most of the time they use basketball(Scholarships) to get out of their because they aren't the brightest kids

Buzzkill 12-31-2004 06:26 PM

Triple A you haven't been to those ghetto's have you.

DegenerationY 12-31-2004 07:05 PM

The movie looks terrible.

RP 01-01-2005 01:30 AM

" EnGLISH MOTHER FUCKERS DO YOU SPEAK IT?"

BCWWF 01-01-2005 02:46 AM

It looks pretty cliche, but I think it will be a pretty powerful film nonetheless

Jason Cage 01-02-2005 12:08 AM

It looks like a piece of toasted poo.

Buzzkill 01-02-2005 12:34 AM

It's BASED ON A TRUE STORY guys.

BCWWF 01-02-2005 08:44 PM

http://coachcarter.com/about.htm

Theres his bio, so its not just some bullshit

Anybody Thrilla 01-02-2005 09:27 PM

I'm not too intrigued by the trailer, but Nonpoint is awesome.

BCWWF 01-02-2005 09:58 PM

What is Nonpoint?

Anybody Thrilla 01-02-2005 10:29 PM

Nonpoint is a band. I've seen them 5 times in concert. Met them all twice as well.

Boondock Saint 01-03-2005 12:59 AM

In The Air Tonight should not be touched by anyone but Phil Collins.

I will be the judge of that, but later

The Outlaw 01-03-2005 02:24 AM

I dig the new version.

Mr. Nerfect 01-03-2005 04:17 PM

I think the movie will be better than what people give it credit to be. Yeah, I assume these kids give pu on their studies and decide that playing basketball is good enough for them, and Coach Carter takes it away form them and forces them to buckle down and do something more secure.

I am interested in this film, and I think it will do exactly what it is supposed to do, and it will have people leave the cinema split, much like those in the actual movie, as to if what Coach Carter did was right or not. That's if anyone sees it. :-\

John la Rock 01-03-2005 06:42 PM

way too cliché for me

BCWWF 01-08-2005 05:27 PM

I think I am going to the sneak preview tonight.

What is a sneak preview? Its the full movie right?

Anyway, I read up on it and the actual story took place only a few years ago, so its pretty up to date. This Coach Carter guy is like a celebrity though, he was also a coach of one of those Slam Ball teams and he was with Samuel L. at a Lakers game a few weeks back.

BCWWF 01-08-2005 10:50 PM

Saw it...I thought it was really good. Maybe it was just selective retention but I didn't think it was as cliche as it sounded. At first it seems like its going to be the new urban version of Hoosiers, new coach comes in, players leave, come back bla bla bla but no, there are all kinds of plot twists and stuff. It was real good if you ask me. I liked Friday Night Lights a lot, and I think if you like that you'd like this.

Good to hear

Supreme Olajuwon 01-09-2005 03:52 AM

I dunno how they expect me to believe that the guy who played Spanish in Old School is supposed to be a gangster

BCWWF 01-09-2005 03:59 AM

Is he the guy who looks like Shaun Livingson?

Its funny because the main characters in the movie, to me at least, all had striking resemblances to NBA players. There was Kobe, Shaun Livingson, Elton Brand, Marion, and Derek Fisher. Somebody else see if you notice.

Funky Fly 01-09-2005 04:26 AM

lol @ everyone getting on Triple A's case. He's from Yonkers (ie. the fucking ghetto).

BCWWF 01-09-2005 02:44 PM

Yonkers isn't a ghetto, East St. Louis is a ghetto, and it was based on a true story

The Answer 01-11-2005 08:42 PM

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/coach_carter/ 75 percent pretty good

John la Rock 01-11-2005 09:45 PM

Another reason I won't see it is because Ashanti is in it

Why do all signers think they can act? Pathetic

Buzzkill 01-11-2005 09:59 PM

She has never acted before, how do you know she can't act?

John la Rock 01-11-2005 10:26 PM

Why is she even acting in the first place? Singers should stick with signing as well as actors should stick with acting

The Outlaw 01-12-2005 11:37 AM

What if they are good at both, John la Rock?

lol

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-13-2005 09:20 PM

It looks mad cliche, but it's Samuel L. Jackson, and he can act a bad mo'fuckin' cliche.

The Outlaw 01-13-2005 11:47 PM

Is that a picture of you getting pissed on?

The Answer 01-14-2005 06:51 PM

I just watched this movie and man it may been the best serious sports movie I have ever seen.It reminded me alot of my high school

BCWWF 01-15-2005 05:04 PM

Its really a lot better then people are giving it predicting. Its a true story so

SPOILER

the team of shits going undefeated for so long isn't far fetched, because that is actually what happened. But then its not like they win it all, they lose to their rivals in the state tourny right away, so its not like the worst to first story.
