Bret "The Hitman" Hart
 

Playing SmackDown! vs. RAW, it got me thinking, where did Bret Hart get the "Hitman" name? Was it just some random name, or does it have some meaning?

I don't think many guys have a RANDOM name.

Other wise we'd have a wrestler named Hunter Hear...sorry, bad example. Or Tara Ry..sorry, bad example again

We'd have a guy in WWE named Mike Rotch

Excuse my ignorance but I thought he was named after an icehockey team, or perhaps the team was named after him could someone fill me in on this.

Bret owns or at least one timed owned a candain hockey team called the Calgary Hitman. I don't know if he still owns them or not.

Last time I heard about it, he still owned them.

He doesn't own them. Sold his share in them years ago.

No, he gave up the ownership a while ago. They still have his colors and everything, and the logo Bret had used often..but that's it.
He still visits the team though, and greets the players etc.

Ahh I see, I knew the Hitman thing had siginifigance to a Hockey team somehow.

He used to be a hitman, seriously.

He took the name "Hitman" so the Sharpshooter would make more since, duh.
