Do any of you know of any programs that can remove vocals from songs?

Ok, I downloaded Goldwave, but under filter there is no vocal remover.

The options are:
Equalizer/Bandpass
Low/High Pass
Noise Reduction
Parametric EQ
Silence Reduction
Pop/Click
Smoother

Is there a plugin I need to download, or do I have an out of date version?

I used to use Goldwave, I don't remember there being an option to remove the vocals though, i've always wanted to be able to do that.

Personally I don't see how it would be possible, since there is no "layers" if you will, where one part just counts for the vocals, at least I don't think so.

Of course if someone knows otherwise, then that is awesome and I want a vocal removing program. :(

I have this thing called SonicStage, it has a feature to remove vocals as good as possible but the best it can do is just have a faint sound in the background. usually doesnt do that good though.

All the ones that do it just eliminate the center channel or something like that. You can still hear faint vocals in the back and you lose a lot of the song anyway, like some drums and stuff usually. I can't remember which program I used to try it before.

EDIT: just googled "remove vocals" and found this http://www.mtu.com/basics/vocal-eliminator.htm it claims to give you some control over the extra stuff it removes. I'm on the way out at the moment, but if nobody has tried it by the time I get back I'll give it a shot.

yeah, basically all you'd be doing is removing whichever section of the EQ the vocals are on. so if you dimmed down the vocals, chances are you'd lose some of the tone from other instruments too.
