Steve Austin's announcement

Steve Austin and Vince McMahon will announce this Wednesday in Hollywood, California that the two sides have come to terms for a three movie deal for the former WWF champion with WWE Films.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and legendary superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin will be on hand this coming Wednesday January 18 to announce their agreement for a three-picture deal under the WWE Films? banner. WWE Films will produce and fully finance the films under the supervision of Joel Simon, President of WWE Films. Most recently, Steve wrapped a supporting role in The Longest Yard, starring Adam Sandler and directed by Peter Segal, scheduled for release by Paramount later this year.

Stone Cold Steve Austin's first project for WWE Films will be The Condemned?, written by Rob and Andrew Hedden. The film will be executive produced by Vince McMahon and George Vrabeck. The film will be produced by Joel Simon in association with Sidestreet/New Wave Entertainment. The story deals with a cop on death-row who is given a second chance when chosen to compete on a deadly reality show. Pursued by ruthless killers, his survival and the key to his freedom depend on him surviving long enough to take down the one person responsible for putting him behind bars.

Aside from the Stone Cold Steve Austin deal, WWE Films, will produce and fully finance another two to four films a year. The first film out of the gate is The Marine?, currently in post-production in Los Angeles after wrapping production on location Queensland, Australia. The film stars and marks the motion picture debut of WWE SmackDown! ? Superstar John Cena (currently seen every Thursday night on WWE's Smackdown! on UPN from 8:00pm-10:00pm EST.), and co-stars with Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, Ladder 49) and Kelly Carlson (Nip/Tuck).

WWE Films is also in post-production on the tentatively titled Goodnight?, starring WWE RAW? Superstar Kane?, also making his motion picture debut. The film is described as an intense horror movie with a unique and unusual setting. WWE RAW Superstar Kane can currently be seen every Monday night on WWE Monday Night RAW live on Spike from 9:00pm-11:00pm EST.

Found that on Wrestlezone btw

I guess he's not making a return? :(

Those movies sound about as exciting as watching Batista eat nachos.

OK, for some marks that may be exciting, but for me it's :nono: :n:

Hey, come on. Batista eating nachos would be an awesome show. You know he'd be going totally nuts like "YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH, NACHOOOOOS!!!!"

And then he'd demon bomb the vendor guy through his cart or table or whatever.

RemyRed 01-18-2005 12:11 AM

The Condemned sounds like it could be a great movie, even though it is just Manhunt.

Fuck trying to make the next "Rock" (i.e. having guys like Orton and Cena trying to act like "The Rock" at times with their promos backstage).

The WWE *NEEDS* a guy like Stone Cold.

I wish Austin could wrestle full-time. :'(

He's gotta play a convicted ex-con with a violent history with women and an alcohol problem who's trying to shape up by teaching high school students how to wrestle.

Oh dammit. I was all pumped when his little spot came on RAW tonight. I thought for sure he would be coming back to the ring/WWE TV. :(

Shaggy 01-18-2005 01:33 AM

I was actually a little pissed because I was thinking the announcement was that Ausitn was gonna return. Even though this is probably the beginning of his return I cant believe that Vince is making these movies. I hope he put more thought in this then he did the XFL.

Gouda 01-18-2005 01:43 AM

Hooray. No Stone Cold return. Was worried there for a second.

Anyways, The Austin and Cena films will probably flop. Kane, I dunno. Maybe it's because I always pictured him as the villian in a horror movie stalking after the good guys and all that.

..... If he ISN'T playing the evil guy in the movie than it'll be really screwed up.

I-Hate-You 01-18-2005 01:46 AM

I don't know why Vince would make these movies for.

The WBF, XFL, WWE NY = :nono:

He's playing the Eye Scream Man

SuperSlim 01-18-2005 09:00 AM

maybe these movies will do aight. I mean there are enough marks out there aren't there?

Joe Kerr 01-18-2005 11:53 AM

I thought Kane's movie was "I Scream man" where hes a deranged icecream man or something

Loose Cannon 01-18-2005 11:59 AM

Death of WWE pg 237 "Vince McMahon started making ridiculous movies with shitty acting for $15 million. He made 10 films. The films lost money. You do the math."

Yea exactly what I was thinking. I read that announcment and was like "So what, are they remaking the running man with Stone Cold?"

Disturbed316 01-18-2005 04:31 PM

One of the films reminds me of Manhunt.

Corkscrewed 01-18-2005 05:03 PM

lol @ intentional repetition.

The changed the title into "Goodnight". Probably because they realized "Eye Scream Man" was just a little bit cheesy.

Gone Mad 01-19-2005 01:16 AM

Alright, as if the Running Man wasn't enough fun the first time... [/sarcasm]

Oh, and Goodnight? Yeah, sounds like a better title.. they may as well spell it "Good Knight" or "Goode Nighte" . Either way, you know that those movies will get jeered up the ass. I'll probably end up watch one of those movies anyways..

Though I wouldn't mind seeing a WWE film that teams up Batista and Eugene as a pair of bumbling cops off to stop a prostitution scheme and terrorist group composed of penguins... while they eat nachos. :shifty:

I'd pay to see that :shifty:
Seriously I would.

Gouda 01-19-2005 01:40 AM

How about a movie where a lawyer tries to win the case of a guy who's boss promised him something but then screwed him and gave it to someone else. The lawyer would be played by Shawn Michaels.

Ok. Yeah, I know... Screwjob jokes are old and frowned upon.
