WTF was up with Tazz and Cole? (spoilers, but not anything significant)

Why was Tazz suddenly being an ass to Cole and why did they keep arguing the whole show? I thought they were doing just fine as announcers before personally. I wonder if it will be explained why they were so different this week, or if it will lead to something else?

Fryza 01-08-2004 10:33 PM

Well, here comes the pain..

Head 01-08-2004 10:34 PM

Don't really think it needs to be explained, people don't get along 100% of the time.

I personally liked it a lot better tonight, the WWE needs to go back to the good old days where the announcers were always at each other's throats. How much I would give to have Monsoon and Heenen back in the announce booth.

ilt_undertaker 01-08-2004 10:37 PM

Im glad Cole isnt the one turning heel, it would propbably end up like JR's heel turn. I hope they have Heyman/JR type arguements soon

JokerFace 01-08-2004 10:38 PM

WTF i totally forgot Smackdown was on tonight! Second week in a row this has happened! :-/

Good Ol JG 01-09-2004 01:17 AM

I'd rather see Tazz choke Cole out like the days of old instead of arguing with him. But NOOOOOOOOO we couldn't have that could we? Stupid WWE....

Corkscrewed 01-09-2004 01:36 AM

LOL

They're testing a heel/face commentary team to see how people respond to that. Tazz and Cole have both been faces for a while, and they want to see how going back to the traditional heel/face announcer team works.

BasicThuganomics 01-09-2004 01:58 AM

I geuss I've just gotten used to them the way they are. I don't think having the heel/face announcer will work in their case because both are liked by fans and we have no reason to boo either of them. Heenan was the best heel manager ever so he was hated by everyone, so when he was announcing he could pull off doing it as a heel. People have no reason to dislike Tazz, so this heel turn is just weird I think.

TazroK 01-09-2004 03:16 AM

I believe the arguing was real. I'm sure WWE didn't say "Argue alot".

These 2 often travel together, plus work together. They are around eachother ALOT.

They spend more time together than a boyfirend girlfriend relationship.

Savio 01-09-2004 11:28 AM

Didn't you hear Tazz ate Grits.

darkpower 01-10-2004 03:35 AM

Do you remember the few times the King and JR tried to do the face/heel thing a few times in 03? JR was about to pop a gasket during the Booker T/HHH match at Wrestlemania, and the night after the Survivor Series, they tried it again, but with unceremonious results (I didn't get it THEN when the King was suddenly heel out of the blue on that night). I remember that after that, they went back to the old two face team, but you could argue the same thing about that night that I think I could about this night. The face/heel team doesn't work nowadays. I think the color man should give his take on the match. Cole and Tazz play off each other majorily well, and they did something similar during the Alliance thing. They were really agreeing with each other during the Eddie beat down by Chavo, though.

I have absolutly no CLUE what was up with Cole's comment about Cena's raps being "too offensive for TV". It was like he said it, and there was no reaction at all from Tazz, as if it was never said. Seems like UPN is really starting to get pissed with Cena's raps, and they want to make sure they get themselves heard, maybe. They bleeped out Cena's thing about John Ritter, and they continue to censor him every week, not by WWE's choice, I would take it. But that was the strangest comment I have heard YET (even stranger, considering that Cena's rap this time was less offensive that some of his others, and Cole never said a WORD about it being too offensive).

I think with a "main event" like Holly v. Show, they needed something to keep people interested in the product. I was seriously nodding off, but woke up out of it when one of them said to the other, "Life's a bitch, and so are you!" or something like that.

Kane Knight 01-10-2004 09:46 PM

It's boring when everyone agrees, anyways. Imagine if all the wrestlers were good guys and believed in fair play.

Pepsi Man 01-10-2004 09:49 PM

I wouldn't really mind that, I don't think, and I have thought about it...but really for the announcers to be bickering is part of what wrestling is supposed to be about. Then, maybe we can see Cole v. Tazz in the ring.

Ricky 01-10-2004 10:13 PM

Something about the commentary on Smackdown just wasn't right this week. They seemed to be talking really quietly, rarely raising their voices, they were arguing a lot, fu</>ck knows why Cole suddenly turned on Cena, and it wasn't like they were just disagreeing with eachother on the subjects, they just seemed to be taking random shots at eachother for no apparent reason. They both just seemed fed up and didn't care anymore, a complete change of attitude from both of them.. I agree with that other person who said there seemed to be something a bit more "real" about it than just arguing because they were told to.

Brock said that actually.

I think that announcers are great when they are arguing with each other. Heenan and Monsoon were awesome back in the day. Actually Heenan and anybody else was awesome back in the day. But Heenan was already a heel when this was going on. If the WWE is gonna use heel/face announcers then they need someone that is already a heel. I think having Coach announce on RAW with King and JR is a really good idea, because they have turned Coach into someone that people don't like. If they are gonna do it on Smackdown, they need to do it wih someone who is already a heel, not just have Tazz and Cole start arguing out of nowhere.

But then again, maybe some people are right who are saying that Tazz and Cole might just be having an off-week or something? :-\

Savio 01-11-2004 01:23 PM

Ok yall people need to hush Tazz said he was pissed off because he had grits!

See, I would mind that. Wrestling's more fun with good guys and bad guys, and total conformity would be about as fun as a Marine Corps "Creative Writing" session. Variances, disputes, these things help make wrestling more interesting from a storyline PoV. Otherwise, we're just watching a scripted version of what the Olympics do, and we could actually be surprised by the non "professional" match outcomes.

Cole V Taz doesn't really interest me. I wouldn't mind seeing Tazz versus someone, but Tazz versus the girliest of Boy Band members? Pffft.

I don't remember, but I'm pretty sure I was joking.

BasicThuganomics 01-12-2004 09:16 PM

Yeah I was right, Vince pretty much did tell Tazz to start arguing with Cole and to try and be a heel. It says so on the TPWW main page. But the thing is, people like Tazz. If Tazz beat the shit outta Cole I think most people on this board would mark out. Coach seems to be doing a good job with his role so far. As long as he stays behind the announce table, and maybe interviews. If WWE is gonna go back to having one announcer be heel, then that announcer better be 100% heel. They should applaud Chavo for standing up to his selfish uncle, they should praise Heyman for making Shannon Moore get his ass kicked every week. You know what I'm saying? This can work, and it can be interesting, if the WWE actually makes the Heels be HEELS and the faces be like they have been pretty much. If Coach and Tazz are gonna be the heel announcers for their show, then they better go all the way with it. When a women gets her ass kicked by a guy in a match, say they deserve it for being in the ring near guys. Stuff like that, I hope the WWE doesn't **** this up. :(

BasicThuganomics 01-12-2004 09:18 PM

Yeah I'm watching RAW right now and Coach is doing a great job playing the heel... :y:

No_Chance 01-12-2004 09:20 PM

Yep, it's been heard for days now that Vince wants to go back to the heel vs. face commentator thing. Wrestling is more entertaining that way. :y:
