the red hot chili peppers are one of the worst bands ever.

I also like Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Vendetta Red, STP, RHCP, Soundgarden, Bush, and Smashing Pumpkins.

Alternative is too broad a term, just about all music these days can be considered alternative in my opinion.
