So I've decided to finally go ahead and go to wrestling school.

APW Boot Camp in Hayward. I sent for the pamphlet and all already. I've already started working out and preparing. I've done some research and APW Boot Camp seems to be pretty well repected. Anyone have an opinion on said Boot Camp?

Mr. Nerfect 02-08-2005 04:56 AM

Well I'm in Australia so I can't really comment, but good luck, and I hope you make it to the big time making millions of dollars, eventually. :y:

Everyone's gotta start somewhere.

#1-norm-fan 02-08-2005 05:12 AM

Tickets for everyone when I main event WrestleMania :D

Triple A 02-08-2005 05:20 AM

nelioneil 02-08-2005 05:31 AM

Can't say anything else but good luck and remember when you do main-event Wrestlemania - the TPWW community

That's of course, if you are in the Sydney area, otherwise it's pretty useless.

Impact! 02-08-2005 06:28 AM

theres one in melbourne as well if you need more info i'll pm me.

speaking of does anyone know if there are any in queensland, cause if there ain't i'll have to move to sydney or melbourne once i finish school, and have enough money.

The Fugitive 02-08-2005 06:45 AM

Sorry, I can't say I know of any wrestling schools up there myself. I'll ask some people and let you know if I hear anything positive.

Dave Youell 02-08-2005 06:54 AM

Here's some advice before you start.

Walk before you can run I've seen too many people get in the ring for the first time and think they are the muts nuts because they can do a moonsault. Learn the basics first, it's boring as hell, but it will help you in the future.

Shut up and Listen. I've seen too many kids walk into training talking about how they already know how to work because they've done it with there brother etc. At the end of the day if the trainers don't like you they won't respect you or give you a chance, be humble and take in all the advise given to you, they are trainers for a reason.

Don't expect to wrestle in a proprt match within the next year it's a slow process, but it's worth it.

If you can do those 3 things you should be fine

The Cerebral Assassin 02-08-2005 07:26 AM

When McMahon signs you up to work for WWE, blackmail Triple H into believing you have evidence of him cheating on Steph and then work your way into her bed so you can have all the power.

Hired Hitman 02-08-2005 09:12 AM

I'm in brisbane... :(

The Answer 02-08-2005 09:36 AM

How much are they charging you?

Loose Cannon 02-08-2005 11:27 AM

Looks like a pretty good school. They teach you everything.

SuperSlim 02-08-2005 11:37 AM

good luck in your endeavor man

Volchok 02-08-2005 08:54 PM

$6,000 with a discount if I pay up front. If not it's a minumum of $250 a month plus intrest and such.

A friend of mine was joking around and trying to get me to go for referee or manager camp which they also offer under the assumption that there's no way a 6' 3" referee or manager can get into the business without eventually becoming a wrestler. lol. I'll go ahead and splurge and spend the extra $2,000 to get started on wrestling.

APW really seems to be really helpful with every aspect. Even post-training. I'm excited to get started.

Loose Cannon 02-08-2005 09:20 PM

where is this school BTW?

Taker Fan 02-08-2005 09:24 PM

Wow that's awesome man. I remember about 2 years ago you telling me you really wanted to go to wrestling school. That's great, and I wish you the best :y::cool:

Volchok 02-08-2005 09:34 PM

Good luck i hope everything works out for ya...

The One 02-08-2005 09:41 PM

Can't say as though I am knowledgable about APW, per-chance is there a website, or even information about who the head trainer is?

KayfabeMan 02-08-2005 10:22 PM

If it's the same APW I am thinking of, it must be All Pro Wrestling. He'd said that it is near Hayward, which I am assuming he means CA - so it should be the same group.

They are a pretty reliable and respectable school, although they have had their share of problems and such, and Roland has come under some fire before. Nonetheless, they should be good to start with.

Loose Cannon 02-08-2005 10:25 PM

oh, that's the school on Beyond the Mat. Didn't even realize.

WOW. why are wrestling schools so expensive?

If you were to main-event Wrestlemania? who would you face and why?

Innovator 02-08-2005 11:19 PM

Awesome man, good luck

Someday I might get my ass to wrestling school

BigDaddyCool 02-08-2005 11:35 PM

You will never mainevent wrestlemania because I plan on becoming the top star and will hold everyone down because I'll own 20% of all the WWE outstanding vote stock.

Damn, it rules to be an accounant.

MVP 02-09-2005 12:03 AM

Awesome :y:

Make sure you play along when JBL approaches you in the shower.

Nowhere Man 02-09-2005 01:10 AM

I've thought about going to one, but:

A) I'm still only 19, and want to get out of college first
B) There's no way in hell I can afford it
C) My only mode of transportation is a rusted-out Oldsmobile that's older than I am
D) I'm out of shape and a gigantic wuss

Anyways, good luck with your lessons. With any luck, once I get my degree in Broadcasting, I'll be able to call your matches.

Corkscrewed 02-09-2005 01:27 AM

Sounds awesome! Good luck with all of that. I can't wait for the inevitable #1-wwf-fan/Dave Youell/King Jericho three way international feud. ;)

Gone Mad 02-09-2005 01:42 AM

Good luck with wrestling school. I wish I had the guts to do that..

Gouda 02-09-2005 01:52 AM

I would be good as a cowardly heel manager.

Same with me, once I get out of college I'm gonna look into it

Really want to try the ROH School, it'd be amazing to be trained by Punk

Not all of them are. Most people avoid the cheaper schools because there are a slew of "cheap" schools known to fuck you over, or to be ran by a "trainer" that has no clue or has never been trained himself.

There are many great schools here in the US that aren't that expensive - all depends on whereabouts in the country that you are, and a few other things.

Generally, you can expect to at least dish out $1,500 - plus gas to travel to and from the school. Then of course you'll need the proper gear, and if you do pass the school you'll then need tights and boots and all of that. It's like anything else basically, initially it'll cost you to get in - but if you love it, it'll be worth it.

samichna 02-09-2005 03:35 AM

awesome

Dave Youell 02-09-2005 06:29 AM

Being in the UK is great i paid £5 everyone other weekend for 6 hours.

Sweet!

Doesn't look like it's been updated in a while but you get the idea.

It's just a bit over an hour from where I live so I'm not too worried about gas or anything.
