What's the deal with Soulseek?

Went on this morning for the first time in literally like months. I searched a few things, and got like 0 results. :| I then just did a search for "mp3' and got only a couple hundred results. Is there some like new version out that I don't? Or do people just not use it much anymore

Cactus Sid 02-10-2005 03:30 PM

I've had that before, sometimes its awesome, sometimes its sh</>ite, guess you gotta keep trying :-\

Funky Fly 02-10-2005 03:40 PM

Time of day tends to be a factor sometimes. Try again in the afternoon.

House of Pancakes 02-10-2005 04:53 PM

there actually is a newer version. the old version is now defunct. you need to go to soulseek's website and download the new one.

Silent 02-10-2005 05:22 PM

It never works for me anymore, I just buy the real CD's now.

darkhorse 02-10-2005 06:39 PM

I've pretty much had it with P2P programs. Now I just use IRC.

el fregadero 02-10-2005 11:55 PM

I rarely use the search thing because somebody on my list will usually have whatever I am looking for.

Yeah I usually just buy CDs too, but I wanna just get like 2-3 songs. Gonna d/l some JEW songs, will probably buy the CD if the songs are as good as No Sensitivity

Funky Fly 02-11-2005 01:03 AM

First I download, then I buy.

Looking for boobies. 02-11-2005 01:45 AM

It works some occasions and other occasions it is pretty fucked up. I am still loyal to it though, because it does the job for me more than enough.

Downunder 02-11-2005 05:29 AM

Soulseek was amazing a year ago. Nowadays it's simply the best thing available. Everyone is uptight and shares with their friends list only. It took me two weeks to find a Jens Johansson jazz album, and I only have three songs off of it at the moment. Jens Johansson is pretty popular in the metal realm [Stratovarius, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc], so it shouldn't have been hard to find.

The best thing available sounds pretty crappy.

Limewire is where it's at.

FakeLaser 02-24-2005 04:26 PM

The "deal" with Soulseek is that it sucks and always has.

Fuck you. Have you seen all the shit I have? 99% of it is from Soulseek.

FakeLaser 02-24-2005 05:08 PM

Have you seen all the shit I have? 1% of it is from Soulseek.

Funky Fly 02-24-2005 05:14 PM

My collection of shit is expansive.

What annoys me is when people leach your bandwidth and bitch about you when you ban them for not sharing.

House of Pancakes 02-24-2005 05:34 PM

soulseek rules.

you just need to look for users for a lot of stuff and ask to trade with them, it's no big deal.

road doggy dogg 02-26-2005 12:04 AM

I dunno I don't like Soulseek that much (ie I'm not like die-hard "SOULSEEK RULZ" or anything) but it is easy to use and doesn't have any extra bullshit I don't care about. Fits my needs fine.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 02-26-2005 01:15 AM

I just use WinMX. I used to use Soulseek but I got sick of the songs always been "queued" or whatever

asphyXy 02-26-2005 04:06 AM

Soulseek was amazing when it first came out because everyone shared their shit. Then when everyone was "friends only", you had to go into the chatrooms and talk with people to get access to their collection. I'm too lazy to do that, so I've been buying CDs lately.
