There any good RPGs planned for the Nintendo DS?

Or any at all? I know there aren't many launch titles, and I've been having trouble finding info on upcoming releases.

AareDub 02-15-2005 12:20 AM

I can't think of any that I've seen off the top of my head. Actually a lot of the upcoming titles that sounded good got pushed WAAAY back until like November/December. Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Hunters, and a few others got the bump to q4 instead of being here next month. If nobody else knows anything about the RPG's I'll check it out next time I'm at work.

Kane Knight 02-15-2005 12:44 AM

It cracked me up that MPH was psuhed back. Hey, let's demo a game, then not release it for like a full year! Our sales weren't hurt enough at CHRISTMAS...

Final Fantasy 3 is planned along with a couple of Dragon Quest games and Vandal Hearts

Kane Knight 02-15-2005 11:00 AM

So, basically, rehashes?

I believe I heard of a new Final Fantasy game coming out. It may be a spin off of FF7, although i could be completely wrong. I'm pretty sure that Square Enix will be making a few new games for the DS, though.

Kane Knight 02-15-2005 05:26 PM

With my luck, it'll be "Crystal Chronicles DS"

That is also planned, yes.

I think the FF7 prequel/sequel thing is coming out on PSP

Kane, I work again tomorrow. I'll print up a list of the DS' announced releases (it's a list of confirmed games within this year) and post it for you. I'll do it for the PSP as well if anyone wants it. I know in the first month of the PSP's release they've announced for about 20 - 30 games to be released.

AareDub 02-16-2005 01:50 PM

On a side note for everybody (especially you Heartbreak since you also work at a game store) if you check out the box of the Zoo Keeper game for DS you might notice the main figure quite resembles a certain german icon from the 1940's  He even has the hand gesture thing going on.

*humps your leg* That'd be awesome.

I'm holding out on the PSP right now, waiting to see if they release a better battery unit, improved model, and/or better memory cards. Still, I'm sure SOMEONE wants the info.

I could have sworn that I read that a version was coming to the DS. I guess I'm wrong, though, since all I'm finding on Google are FF3 and Crystal Chronicles for the DS.

Kane Knight 02-16-2005 03:37 PM

Nintendo: We give you the leftovers.

They're coming out with huge memory sticks. I know there is a 1 gig one being released early. It's going to be like a $100 though. :meh: There's a software package though that's being worked on (it was released in Japan on accident; one of the many that was and wasn't supposed to be) it has word processors, spreadsheet, wireless communication, and a T.V. tuner. That's got my interest speaking.

Sony released a press release about a month ago saying that they won't be releasing any PSP's for more than the pre-orders until December. I think it's bullshit, but take it for what it's worth. It does say that you may not get one until after December if you don't pre-order. So if you're slightly interested, I think stores (E.B. Games anyway) have about 5 more days to make all their pre-orders, so you may want to go put a deposit down.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2005 09:18 PM

On and I should have the list posted by tomorrow at 11pm. I have to be at work until 10, then type it so yeah, 11 should be do-able.

Yea, Gamestop is already fully booked on their first shipments. If you reserve it now you'll have to wait for second shipment (although it's only going to be a day later). That one will probably fill up quick as well, so defitely go reserve one if you're interested.

I think I'll chance it. I don't have the money to lay down right now on Sony's promises. All I can think of is the HDD...

I wouldn't mind it simply to use the HDLoader prog on some of my games.

By FF3 do they mean FF3 or FF6? Cause on SNES in America FF3 was FF6... so they might be doing that again.

I own one, and I'm glad I do for many of those games you just mentioned.

I hate to sound like a total geek, but I'm glad Pokemon Emerald is coming out on GBA and not DS. :$

isn't emerald just an advanced ruby/sapphire

like yellow was to red/blue and
crystal was to gold/silver

Kane Knight 03-03-2005 10:37 PM

Probably.
