In the industry

Is anyone on this board involved in or studying for a job in this field? I'm just curious who else is out there.

I have an Associate's Degree in Electronic Media/BRT (Broadcasting) and am a semester away from a Bachelor's in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts. I have an old professor of mine trying to set me up with an internship at the local ad agency, and I'm planning on moving to California in a couple of years to pursue screenwriting. I've made a (VEEEEEEEERY) independent movie with a bunch of friends, and am working on writing a sort-of sequel. I worked tech jobs for the campus sports show and have been invited to audition for a sketch comedy show next week. Hardly qualifies me as an "industry professional."

What are your movie/TV stories?

My brother's actually done work on movies as a recording technician (Sound).

He's only done indie films, but he's still a student.

Hmmmm...Maybe I can convince him to get me a job doing a soundtrack. :D

What films? (I'm sort of a dork about movies, so there's a good chance I'll have heard of at least one of them, even if they're tiny)

I'll have to ask him. Since he like, vanishes for 6 months at a time while on location and shit (Not 6 months, but still), I never really get around to asking.

I'm a film major, although this is my freshmen year. I plan on moving out to California after I graduate. My brother graduated last year with a film degree and moved out there right after pretty much. He has a job as a production assistant for Mark Burnett productions. Hopefully he'll be able to help me get a job when I get out there, or an internship before I graduate.

It's all about who you know, usually, unfortunately.
