House of Pancakes 03-04-2005 11:58 AM

incredible show. the guys are comedy gods, i've got all the seasons on dvd.

Kane Knight 03-04-2005 12:43 PM

I need to pick them up on Disc.

Boomer 03-04-2005 12:55 PM

I've got the first season on DVD. Every monologue by Buddy Cole is golden.

Kane Knight 03-04-2005 01:00 PM

I love the line about Americans burning the flag. "In Canada, we burn the flag just to keep wwarm" or something like that.

Triple A 03-04-2005 01:28 PM

Terrible show.

road doggy dogg 03-04-2005 01:50 PM

Haha. I adapted that monologue for theater class. The teacher ended up rejecting it as a choice, but I felt proud

---------------------------------------------------------------------

What I, Buddy Cole, love best about dinner parties is that part where the conversation suddenly dies a horrible death. And some helpful waige pipes up with “If you were stranded on a desert island and you could only bring one book, record, and person, what would they be?”.

What are the odds? I can’t believe it. Here I am, stranded on a desert island. And my only supplies are my favorite book: “All About Rhoda” by Peggy Hertz from Scholastic Press, and my favorite album, Johnny Mathis and Denise Williams’ “That’s What Friends are For”. I always like to have an ex-lovers music around.

Denise is good too.

And, for companionship, the one and only, Oscar Wilde.

I’d ask Oscar to say something funny, to which he would reply “Well Buddy, I recall as I lay dying in my death bed, I came out of my stupor momentarily and declared with perfect deplume “Either that wallpaper goes, or I go! Haha!”

To which I would reply “Oh that was rich Oscar! Oh geez. Let me catch my breath for a second. I’m so glad that I brought you and not someone calmer!”

Speaking of which, that reminds of the time I was crossing the border into Albania, and some border guard asked me if I had anything to declare. And I said (this is great), “Only my genius!”

I know. That was Oscar’s line. But he owed me.

Hilarious show. The monologue Bruce McCollough did to the guy who stole the wheel from his bicycle/the guy who watched as the wheel was stolen. Classic.

#1-norm-fan 03-04-2005 06:17 PM

I hate Buddy Cole though.

Scott Thompson is cool but that character is just... bleh.

Funky Fly 03-04-2005 08:16 PM

I love it. It sucks that I have to stay up till like 3 am to see it on Comedy Central when they decie to air it. This is just another reason Canada > USA.

YOUR Hero 03-06-2005 12:01 AM

When it first came out it was funny as hell, but it dwelled too much on gay themes as the years past.

The Gooch 03-08-2005 08:27 AM

Bruce McCulloch was my favourite Kid. I loved his character Gavin.

The skit when he goes to the deli is classic. I believe the line is as follows:

"How much do you think my head weighs?"
"If my head was pastrami--Which I know it is not--How much would it be worth?"

PS--Lopez is still the laziest person I know....

Gertner 03-08-2005 06:05 PM

Gavin was amazing. McCulloch was incredible altogether. They just played the skit where he does a song about how much he loves Terriers.

Well Scott and Dave were gay and I guess many people really weren't dealing with the subject at the time. But yeah, I agree with you to a point. But I guess I always found the cross-dressing and other stuff like that funny.

#1-norm-fan 03-09-2005 06:03 AM

Dave Foley was/is gay?????

The Gooch 03-09-2005 08:27 AM

I thought that Dave Foley was married? He is the best cross-dresser of the group I think. I thought that Scott was the only gay Kid. Speaking of Foley, I really like him on Celebrity Poker. His sarcasm is my type of humour.

My buddy caught them a year or so ago on their reunion tour. Unfortunately the tickets went fast so I didn't catch them. Anyone else see them live? They are suppose to be even better live than on TV.

YOUR Hero 03-10-2005 10:27 PM

Scott McCulloch was the only (openingly) gay fellow on the show. Like I stated though, the show was gold in the beginning.

#1-norm-fan 03-11-2005 02:09 AM

Scott Thompson, you mean.

Dave Foley is cool on Celebrity Poker.

Boomer 03-11-2005 02:17 AM

I guess I got confused because he played a gay guy on News Radio....right?

YOUR Hero 03-12-2005 04:35 PM

*Thompson, yes.

#1-norm-fan 07-19-2012 05:17 AM

I'm bringing this topic back because I've been watching this before bed every night for the past few weeks again after not watching for a couple years. For some reason, I even like the Buddy Cole monologues now. Took a really long time to grow on me I guess. Or maybe I'm more comfortable with faggotry than I was all those years ago.

Kane Knight 07-19-2012 05:19 AM

FAG!

#1-norm-fan 07-19-2012 05:24 AM

That's the more likely reason. I should try dick and see if I like that too now.

Razzamajazz 07-19-2012 05:30 AM

i'm crushing your head

Kane Knight 07-19-2012 05:32 AM

I'm pinching your face!

#1-norm-fan 07-19-2012 06:03 AM

There is... nobody home

Dark-Slicer Diago 07-19-2012 09:32 AM

Love this show, used to what it all the time.

Tom Guycott 07-19-2012 09:59 AM

"I WANNA DIP MY BALLS IN IT!!!"

... oh, wrong show.

Kane Knight 07-19-2012 05:19 PM

I've lost my Indian drum!

whiteyford 07-19-2012 05:34 PM

Love the running faggot skit.

"The beard stays, you go!"

#1-norm-fan 07-29-2012 06:12 AM

Also, with that sketch Bruce officially has the title as best looking woman out of all the cast.

YOUR Hero 07-29-2012 01:23 PM

Those skits were awesome
