WWE Has Wrestlemania...

But what was WCWs big PPV?

Mike the Metal Ed 03-05-2005 10:12 PM

Starrcade, I believe.

Drakul 03-05-2005 10:12 PM

Starcade, I think O_o

Drakul 03-05-2005 10:12 PM

Same post,same time

McDoogle 03-05-2005 11:06 PM

Same post channel? I do believe so.

Disturbed316 03-06-2005 11:34 AM

It was indeed Starrcade.

jnb3599 03-07-2005 01:17 PM

didn't starcade actually start in '83 b4 manais? obviously it didn't run longer now that wcw is dead, but i believe it started b4 mania

John la Rock 03-07-2005 11:16 PM

I was thought it was Halloween Havoc

Otherside 03-08-2005 12:37 AM

Believe the first one was '83. A Flair for the Gold

Blue Demon 03-08-2005 05:42 PM

it was Starrcade...and ECW was November to Remember

FakeLaser 03-08-2005 06:40 PM

Starrcade, which predates Wrestlemania

You are not alone. One of the main problem WCW had was they didn't have one SPECIAL PPV, and so they all seemed the same. Some people care about Wrestlemania just because it's Wrestlemania. Starrcade should have been that for WCW, but it wasn't.

Bo 03-08-2005 08:30 PM

I thought they were trying to put Superbrawl as their "big one".

Bad Guy 03-09-2005 12:58 AM

I also thought it was Superbrawl.

Shaggy 03-09-2005 03:39 AM

They had a few that many people considered the big one...but Starrcade is what there big one was.

World War 3 was basically like the Royal Rumble....the winner got the shot at Starrcade or in WWEs case....Mania.

Boondock Saint 03-10-2005 04:14 AM

You mean it wasn't New Blood Rising?!

SuperSlim 03-10-2005 09:10 AM

For the longest I know it was Starrcade but later on they tried pushin SuperBrawl as it which wasn't the best idea.

Have one and keep it that way, but it's too late for that now anyway.

KayfabeMan 03-10-2005 11:10 PM

IMO, for quite a long time, almost all of their events were their WM.

Contrary to popular belief, WCW ran some of the most tremendous shows / matches ever - and if I may say so, possibly more than WWE / WWF did. They did have a big string of great events that were all considered to be high caliber, and major events.

Although, like it was said above, they needed an anchor just for people's psychology that based on the name / hype of the event that it'll be special. It hurt them in the long run, but I just wanted to make a point of saying that WCW wasn't shit like most make it out to be.

James Steele 03-11-2005 02:56 AM

Yeah, Classic WCW was awesome.

M. Banana 03-11-2005 03:59 PM

Starcade? That names sounds gay..

Nowhere Man 03-12-2005 02:44 AM

Well, when you just look at the name itself, Wrestlemania sounds pretty stupid too.

Impact! 03-12-2005 05:55 AM

wasn't ecw's wrestlepalooza?

Impact! 03-12-2005 05:56 AM

by the way i think that name sounds pretty gay

The Mackem 03-12-2005 09:58 AM

What are TNA pushing as their "Wrestlemania"?

Shaggy 03-12-2005 10:02 AM

TNA hasnt named one as its wrestlemania type event yet because they have only had 4-5 events. I think that in the end it will probably be Victory Road since that was there first ppv.

The Mackem 03-12-2005 10:03 AM

That sounds gay as well.

McDoogle 03-12-2005 01:16 PM

yea Victory Road does sound pretty homoish.

SuperSlim 03-12-2005 07:36 PM

how bout just makin it Destination X.

M. Banana 03-12-2005 07:52 PM

Victory Road sounds like the place that you go to to get baptised.

Boondock Saint 03-13-2005 02:55 AM

I was reading that TNA may make their "big" PPV "Bound For Glory", sometime in September I think.

Nah pretty sure ECW's Big PPV was November 2 Remember

King Jericho 03-14-2005 09:43 AM

I always thought WCW's Wrestlemania was either Starrcade or Slamborre(sp).

And I'm pretty sure November to Remember or Guilty as Charged were ECW's.

:meh:

DaveBrawl 03-14-2005 01:20 PM

It should of been Superbrawl since it is such a great name. :shifty:

SammyG 03-15-2005 10:37 PM

War games was pretty huge too.. great american bash too. uncensored wasnt bad

Bad Company 03-16-2005 04:49 PM

It was definately Starrcade.

Pepsi Man 03-17-2005 12:16 AM

After reading this, I wanted to throw my one and a half cents out on a few points, so here you go.

*Starrcade did have its first event before WrestleMania.

*ECW’s big event probably WAS November to Remember, because that was always a big deal even before ECW had Pay-Per-View.

*A reason you might think that WCW’s big event was SuperBrawl is that they had actually numbered SuperBrawls just like WrestleManias.

*A reason you might think that Slamboree was the biggest WCW event was because it sometimes featured “A Legends’ Reunion” and would have a “Legends” Match or two with legendary retired performers.
