heels and faces
was wondering if you guys could offer some help....
i have been watching wrestling since i was 8, but i never watched wcw until 95. I was just thinking how about every wrestler who has been in the business a substantial amount of time( say 5 years) has been both a heel and a face at some point. Is there anyone who was around awhile who never turned one way or the other? The Ultimate Warrior never became a heel did he? Has Sting Always been a face? any other u guys can think of, they dont have to be main eventers but big names in the big 2 companies who never switched? |
I believe Warrior was always a face when he was Warrior, excluding his time as one of the BladeRunners.
Sting was a heel near the end of WCW when he was feuding with Hogan. The turn didn't work out. Not sure if Bob Holly has ever switched. Not that anyone would care. |
Holly did switch.
Steamboat never switched to my knowledge. |
steamboat you are probably right on, what about tito santana? always a face? Greg Valentine? always a heel? One Man Gang? did anyone care?
|
Had a big discussion about this a while back and I think that it was concluded that Steamboat was the only guy that didn't switch from face to heel or vice versa.
|
I'm pretty sure Greg Valentine was a face at one point.
|
Rey Mysterio has always been a face by my count.
|
He was heel in WCW.
Valentine was face a couple of times. It's onlY Steamboat and Santana |
Million Dollar Man never turned face did he?
|
Yes in WCW and in his mid-south/NWA days
|
anyone know the exact years of steamboats and santanas WWF runs respectively? and the years steamboat was in WCW? thats a big deal i think in wrestling for a guy like steamboat. As many runs as he had to never swap
|
I was always a heel in my backyard fed.
|
Does Bret Hart's 1997 'heel turn' count, considering he was a face in Canada and Europe, but not in the US?
Given this, I consider Bret Hart to have been a tweener during his last months in WWF. What do we think? |
Bret was heel in WCW.
|
That last Sting heel run turned out to be more like a Steve Austin face run. I mean no matter what the guy did or said he would get cheered. I mean he would hit someone with a bat, tell people to shut up, whatever, the fans just loved Sting and wouldn't boo him.

Big Show has always been talentless...sorry, that isn't what we are talking about.
What about Bossman? Was he ever a face? I can't recall Jeff Jarrett as a face, or Bischoff or The Coach. I beat you all!! J.R. has never been a heel! Bawgawd! |

Also, JR has been heel, so BAHGAWD to that. |

What do we think? |
:o oh right
BTW The Coach was face, before he teamed up with Bischoff in WWE. Bischoff was face in his early WCW days, when he was just that pussy announcer and when the Hall and Nash first came to WCW. I'm also pretty sure Bossman was a face too. |

He was a heel then. |
Also when he came back with "Dr Death" Steve Williams after his facial paralysis thing.
|
BAHGAWD! You've foiled me!
What about Gillberg? |

Coach and Bischoff were definitely face announcers / personalities like you said. Bossman was also a MAJOR face for quite some time. He was marketed out of the wazoo in WWF, and after that went on to WCW to play heel (as Big Bubba Rogers) and face again (as The Boss and The Guardian Angel and then as Ray Traylor). Anyone remember his WWF feud with Nailz and also Heenan's group? Face. |

I bet Kayfabeman is Gillberg :shifty:

Rick Rude was never a face, as far as I know.
|
Yea, he was babyface in Georgia Championship Wrestling and I think in WCW for a little while.
|
HA! I got one!
Bull Buchanan! Screw his B2 gimmick, because it never got over. We all hated him always! |
Rick Rude was also a face in ECW for a time, before pulling a heel turn there.
If anyone remembers, he used to do commentary with Joey Styles before being part of a storyline with Jerry Lawler, Rob Van Dam and others (from that whole 'WWF invasion' angle). |
Shark Boy has never been a heel before in his career.
Although there is currently an evil Shark Boy in BPW that he feuds with. |
Has Nikolai Volkov ever a face? I watched the 1992 Rumble last night and noticed he had an American flag along with his Russian flag on his trunks. Plus he was smiling as he ran down to the ring

Nikolai Volkoff was indeed face for a time.
I believe once before playing the heel he was face, but also in the early 90's he was face before joining the Million Dollar Corporation with DiBiase, Tatanka, Bundy, IRS & the whole lot of them. He sold out to send money back to his family, who was hurting in the horrible economy of Russia. |
Lash LeRoux has always been a face & Kid Romeo has also always been a heel.
|
HHH has always had a long nose.
|
Which instantly makes him a heel.
|
What about Steve Blackman too? I just remembered his name for some reason, and I don't really ever recall him being full-on heel. I know that he and Shamrock feuded & Steve was sort of heel, but was he ever officially a heel heel?
Either way I guess that counts, just thought I'd ask that, since it's bothering me. |
