Highest ever rating for a wrestling TV show?

What company was it for, what show, when and what happened for it to be so highly rated?

McLegend 03-20-2005 01:53 PM

I think it's Raw I just don't know when and what happened.

So yeah I am not really helping that much.

McLegend 03-20-2005 02:17 PM

Acutally I can help a little check this

That was has of 1999. So it very well could have been broken by now.

Also this tells you. Just scroll all the way down for the answer

I figured it was "This is your life"

Loose Cannon 03-20-2005 03:47 PM

A WWE Show in the 80's might hold the record. I'll check later.

Savio 03-20-2005 04:24 PM

I think its 8.2 hold on I'll check

11.6 holee shit

Loose Cannon 03-20-2005 05:20 PM

Yep, told ya. During Mania 3.

The Mackem 03-20-2005 05:48 PM

How does it work again? 1 point equals 400 000 or something? I can't remember how it's turned into real terms. Plus how can we be sure that the WWE didn't make the figure larger than it actually was?

The Mackem 03-20-2005 05:51 PM

Oh yeah and thanks for Undertaker's birthday Savior, that was a nice bonus right there.

They don't release the ratings, Nielsen Media does, so unless the WWE has someone working in Nielsen Media, they can't fake it.

Dave Youell 03-21-2005 05:01 AM

No Wonder Taker never jobs at mania, it's alway within weeks of his Bday.

Vince: So Mark what would you like for your Birthday this year?
Taker: Not to job at Mania

Yes I did. March 14, 1987 = During Wrestlemania 3. Meaning during the time Mania 3 angles were running.

KayfabeMan 03-29-2005 05:55 AM

Hey WWE "wrestling" marks, take that. Hard.

You'll never see ratings like those again, cyclical business or not.

KayfabeMan 03-29-2005 06:02 AM

Also, I just read this on another site - not sure if it's totally accurate or not, but I do assume so, since the article it was in was a very recent one, and is accurate on other things:

"A ratings point represents 1,096,000 households, or one per cent of the estimated 109.6 million TV homes in the United States. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show."

tucsonspeed6 04-10-2005 02:04 PM

I think I remember reading something about an 11 pointer segment in the Death of WCW, but I don't recall it being in the 80's.

Keep in mind that SNME I believe was on NBC at the time, a channel that reaches far more people than USA, SPike, UPN etc...

Yup. There's always been interest in the WWE (or any wrestling company) becoming affiliated with a major broadcast network. (of course I'm talking about interest on the wrestling organizations' parts, not necessarily the parts of the broadcast networks.)

Gertner 04-16-2005 10:32 PM

I'd liekt hat
