Why would a smackdown talent who won the Royal Rumble face HHH? Wouldn't he face Lesnar, or whoever has the WWE title at WMXX? Have I missed something?

The rumor is that he'll get "fired" by Heyman or something and then go over the Raw.

Is Dave Scherer stealing news from me? I mean granted I just pass along what Meltzer says, but Ive been talking abotu Benoit-HHH for a while, good to see 1wrestling uses this site to get news.

Ah, ok. I actually haven't heard/read any of those rumors, but it makes a bit of sense now. Though I don't really see how that constitutes a very good idea; as much as people complain that Benoit gets buried on SD, I doubt the situation would improve if you set him up against HHH.

I've always been in favor of a Benoit/Brock matchup because of the great way they've long-term booked it over the past few months.

I've read that the Rumble winner gets to choose which title he wants to compete for...

That would be interesting, tho I doubt it cause it'd kinda undermine the brand extension.

My guess is that Benoit will win the Rumble, and it'll look like he's going to face Lesnar. The first SD after RR, we'll see Brock all pissed at Heyman because he didn't stop Benoit from winning. Heyman will nervously say "I'll take care of this".

Benoit comes out for a promo, and in it Heyman fires Benoit.

Rewind to the Rumble: In that match I see it coming down to Benoit, Goldberg and one other guy like Orton, Batista or Angle. Anyway, at this point Brock comes down and lays out Benoit with an F-5. He then waits for Benoit to get up so he can clothesline him out of the ring. However, Benoit ducks and Lesnar takes out Goldberg. Goldberg is pissed and the two battle up the entrance way as SD and RAW officials try to break up the battle. Meanwhile back in the ring, a hurt Benoit overcomes one last obstacle and throws out whoever is left after some back and forth action.

Meanwhile over on RAW Goldberg is pissed that he didn't win the Rumble. HHH informs him he'll never get another World Title shot, so Goldberg starts to threaten Bischoff.

This leads both GMs to make a trade for their own benefits, Goldberg moves to SD so he cant kill Bischoff and Benoit goes to RAW because Heyman doesn't want him to face Brock. Since Benoit won the Rumble, the BOD rules that Benoit gets to face HHH in the main event of Wrestlemania. Then on SD, perhaps Stephanie returns (I dont want that to happen, but its possible) and says that Goldberg is the #1 conteder for the SD title in part because Brock cost Goldberg the RR match. Heyman doesn't think that fair, so Goldberg is booked in a macth at No Way Out where he is out manned (some kind of 3 on 1 or 2 on 1 for the #1 contender spot, maybe with guys like Morgan, Train and Show). Anyway, Goldberg of course wins this match and he looks like an unstoppable monster, and goes into Mania against Brock.

That sets up the two rumoured title matches for Mania. I dont know how they actually will do it (or its always possible they will change the booking plans), but its one idea.

Well, hopefully WWE doesn't read your idea, because I really like it. If they see an idea that is good and makes sense thought up by an internet fan, WWE would probably try to think of their own idea that is different. and of course their idea would end up sucking...

I've said this quite a few times, but with HHH leaving to film movies in the late spring/summertime, the possibility of him losing the title to Benoit (or whoever) seems to be pretty good.

Yeah and I think HHH would be fine losing the title as long as he gets to be in the main event of the biggest show of all time. That way he walk around in the back with the boys and go "I did a JOB in MSG on the biggest show of all time, and I made Chris Benoit a star, so nobody else can complain if they are asked to do a JOB".

The other thing is that I think HHH wants to be champ liek Flair was, where he wins the title, loses it within a few months and then wins it back. I gotta figure he wants to be the "Seventeen time worlds champion" before his career is done.
