British Comedy Poll

So, we've been discussing the Office and 'Allo 'Allo recently, but I'd like to know what your favourite British Comedy Series is, out of the ten listed above. As always, please post after voting to a) explain your choice and b) initiate a new discussion!

Enjoy!

Jonster 04-10-2005 10:48 AM

Listed where?

Hitman84 04-10-2005 10:48 AM

Hold ur horses I was creating the poll!

Hitman84 04-10-2005 10:50 AM

OK - as much as I love the Office, Men Behaving Badly and Blackadder, Little Britain gets my vote. It's catchphrases are so memorable. 'But I'm a lady, I do ladies things' for example. Fried gold!

Mike the Metal Ed 04-10-2005 10:58 AM

OFAH wins every time.

Tornado 04-10-2005 12:03 PM

Fawlty Towers

Scarface 04-10-2005 01:23 PM

Black Books is my favorite comedy ever.

Lamuella 04-10-2005 01:52 PM

I am disgusted by the lack of Spaced love in this list.

Likewise, I think it should've been included, but as much as I love it I don't think it's the best.
Dunno can't make my mind up.

Very bloody close between Faulty Towers and Black Adder. I went with Black Adder, now I wish I'd voted Faulty Towers :(

Dave Youell 04-11-2005 03:09 AM

LB isn't established enough IMO to be considered a classic british comedy yet.

Blackadder gets my vote out of that list

The thread isn't called classic British comedy. Obviously Little Britain hasn't been around enough to be considered a classic, I put it on the list given its current popularity (or so I thought, I appear to be the only one who voted for it!).

As for the abscence of My Hero, Bottom and others, I made the list out of the ones I have watched on a regular basis. Over the last 18 months, I haven't been in the UK long enough to catch a lot of the newer programmes, and I have only seen the odd ep from the other series in the past :$. I hope that clears things up :D. Keep the votes coming! I strongly suspect that 'None of the above' will win this poll though ...

Arashi Kage 04-13-2005 07:32 PM

I put Red Dwarf, only because I watched it a bit way back when I was a kid, I don't remember much of it, only that I would change the channel if it came on, lol.

Londoner 04-15-2005 08:17 PM

^Red dwarf has started up again from the beginning on ukgold2 if your interested mate, they'll be onto the 3rd one next, its reminded me of why i loved watching that programme. Its really hard to choose between only fools and horses, men behaving badly and red dwarf, but ill go with red dwarf cos Craig Charles rules!

I would rather watch Friends than any other British show everrrrrrrrr. Except the avengers.

Hitman84 04-21-2005 03:01 PM

Oh come on! American stuff is good, but does not beat British comedy! Compare Will & Grace with Dad's Army (which I now realise I didn't put on the list and I'm embarrassed how I could have left it out) or Blackadder? No? You can't, because there is no comparison...

The Ravishing One 04-21-2005 04:23 PM

Bottom :y:

NoRoolz 04-21-2005 04:25 PM

I like American and British Comedy (I'm British). I don't think either is better than the other. Anyway, Only Fools and Horses wins by a mile IMO.

zee deveel 04-21-2005 05:08 PM

red dwarf is insane

Spoon Bender 04-21-2005 09:56 PM

Friends is the only really good American comedy show I've seen. There's some great writing in the states, but most American comedy makes my brain want to hang itself.
Went for Red Dwarf, it wasn't as well crafted as shows like Fawlty Towers or Blackadder, but when you consider that there were (i think) 9 series plus a planned movie you gotta be impressed with the consistancy of the material...except for the seriese without Chris Barrie, that was a bit duff.

Bad Company 04-21-2005 11:30 PM

Ali G :|

Anyway, I voted blackadder. Huge Fawlty Towers fan though.

Lotus 04-23-2005 01:56 AM

British comedy sucks the fattest cock on the face of the earth. I would have voted for that spot, except Will and Grace and Friends suck just as much cock. God. No place for me to vote. :(
