Bret Hart/Mad TV/WCW angle..
 

I wasn't a big WCW or Mad TV fan at the time but I remember Will Sasso being on WCW tv.. I saw an episode of Mad TV today where Bret Hart supposedly "freaked out" and beat Sasso's ass twice.. They made it out like it wasn't supposed to happen.. My question is was that a shoot or was it just part of the WCW storyline??

Well, Russo was in control then, I think. So who knows.

Actually, the chair shots were over the top fake to garner laughs on Mad TV. It sucked, because Bret was basically a self parody in those skits...

but then on Nitro, they tried to play it off as real and even gave Will Sasso a shot at Bret's WCW US Title.

It was a story...I remember that shit. Sasso showed up on Nitro later and wanted to fight.

Yea, worst shit ever involving Bret. Sasso helped somebody defeat Bret on Nitro. I have it on tape somewhere

WCW once offered ME a shot at the US title, however I had to pass on that due to creative control factors, as well as the fact that it never really happened.
True story.

Also, 2 more points for Sasso randomly mentioning Hart on another MadTV episode during a skit that had nothing to do with wrestling or promoting their 'feud'. Cheap publicity = 2 points.

Don't forget that girl from the show that turned on Sasso and joined up with Bret, thus becoming the heel cast member. Oh pointless crossovers that do nothing for business, WCW loved them.
