New York Rappers

I know there's some hip hop fans on these boards, so...

give me a heads up on rappers from NY!

I'm making a compilation/mixtape featuring New York Rappers, I got as far as 50, Ja, Jadakiss, Fabolous, Fat Joe, Jay Z, Nas...

...so any others??

el fregadero 04-22-2005 02:23 PM

Chuck D, the Beasties.

DaveWadding 04-22-2005 02:28 PM

Don't forget Lloyd Banks and Tony "Free" Yayo

DaveWadding 04-22-2005 02:34 PM

and Shyne and Biggie (and Ma$e if you want)

Loose Cannon 04-22-2005 02:38 PM

Yo Yo Yo
I logged on to TP Dub and saw this thread
I see El Freg started it off, by giving X-L some head
Wadding came in and offered his expertise
Maybe one day he'll start saying Fuck the Police

LC OUT.

Yea, include me.

EDIT:

Supreme think he's the man by finishing his paper by six
Too bad the Reds weren't that cool; hey Dunn, how about a hit?

Supreme Olajuwon 04-22-2005 02:38 PM

Mos Def
Talib Kweli
J-Zone
Mobb Deep
Big Daddy Kane
Aesop Rock
Big L
A Tribe Called Quest
Onyx
Run DMC

The list goes on and on and on. Too bad gold like that is being spoiled with trash like 50 Cent, Ja Rule, Fat Joe and Fabolous..

Lotus 04-22-2005 03:14 PM

The tightest NY rapper is Nas, by far. Distant runners-up are Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Prodigy (from Mobb Deep), and Guru. Oh yeah, you can't forget Gang Starr. They were tight.

Jigga, motherfucker.

DaveWadding 04-22-2005 03:30 PM

and don't forget LL Cool J. and I mean "Mama Said Knock You Out" Cool J and not "Luv U Better/Headsprung" Cool J.

Lotus 04-22-2005 03:30 PM

Jay-Z is very good, but he can't hold Nas' jock. Nas tore his ass up on "Ether", too.

Lotus 04-22-2005 03:33 PM

LL had a few tight songs back in the day, like "Mama Said Knock You Out", "Going Back to Cali", "Deepest, Bluest", and "The Ripper Strikes Back". But this decade has been horrible LL music.

Savio 04-22-2005 05:20 PM

P-killa AKA me.

Lotus 04-22-2005 11:35 PM

I downloaded that song Savior. While its far better than I can do, it's only OK.

Lotus 04-22-2005 11:35 PM

To be honest with you.

Savio 04-23-2005 12:09 AM

Eh its ok.

Add Wu Tang, Biggie, and Rakim to that list and it's perfect..

Lotus 04-23-2005 01:35 AM

What, no love for Gang Starr on this board? DJ Premier is the best producer to ever step foot in the rap game.

el fregadero 04-23-2005 02:18 AM

Shit, can't believe I forgot the Wu, Run DMC, and Biggie. :(

They're both good, personally I prefer Jay. But yeh, Jay-Z has been more consistant in his career, thats what gives him the edge in some people's eyes. No doubt that Ether was 10x better than Takeover.
