Huge Wrestlemania Buyrate

WrestleMania 21 looks to have done about 940,000 buys which is considered a huge success. If that number holds, it would put the show near record levels. The show was headlined by the Triple H vs. Batista World Title match. ------------------- WOOO. TISTA DRAWS. |

That Wrestlemania! though was by far the most complete, compact WM ever. From the Hollywood gimmick, to the matches, to the HoF, to Pipers Pit, everything blended in perfectly.

I would probably give HHH-Batista the most credit for the buyrate, but JBL-Cena, Angle-HBK and Piper-Austin got just as much hype as the World Title match. So its hard to accurately give credit to just one of them.
However, unlike last year where I thought HHH-Benoit and HBK had very little to do with the number, I would say its fair to give HUnter and Batista credit for this show. But as I said, 3 other matches were pushed just as hard. I'm quite shocked it was that high, usually the number goes up, so this could wind up being the most watched Mania of all time. But I was thinking they would have a tough time breaking 700,000 buys (thats why I'm not in Vegas), but it looks like they peaked at the right time. It'll be interesting to see how Backlash does coming off the heels of Mania. |
Well, I'm glad this LA-area Wrestlemania did well. Wrestlemania 2000 was kinda cruddy.
