Has there been any word on the planned 3rd Mummy movie?
 

I heard a few details a while back about the third movie in the Mummy series. Supposedly it will be set in the 50s, and not feature the main characters (except the same villain).

There's no point in making a third one if they don't have the same characters.

so the 3rd mummy movie is gonna pull a Dumb & Dumberer? bleh.. same basic story, but not plot, different characters... so is the main character gonna be like.. ben stine?that guy is seriously in every movie..

Nope. In fact, I'm so apathetic that I posted a thread asking about it.

Except for the fact that it won't use the same characters as before...

...And the fact that, in this case, it makes some sense. You've got an eternal bad guy who only shows up in ancient egypt and the 20s?

The thing is, the title character is supposed to be the same guy. It's not like they're doing an Indiana Jones movie without Harrison Ford or the Indy character itself.

Stephen Sommers has just finished making Van Helsig so if it will be done then it might come after.

They already had 3 Mummy movies. The Mummy, The Mummy 2, and The Scorpion King.
