So I'm just sat here reading through some old threads and some dirt sheets and its obvious what the general attitude toeards Triple H is, and i share that attitude. But recently i was in a book store and i saw the Triple H book, i flicked through it to find that some of it is autobiographical. So I read a few parts in detail, and in the last chapter he speaks about his relationship with Steph. He claims that he has no creative control what so ever, and that he only sits in board meetings now and again to learn things. Now i think i speak for most people here when I say I think this is bullshit.

But it got me thinking, given we pretty much know that Hunter does have input in creative, and pretty much how things go in general, what would you do in his postition?

Your a young, talented wrestler on your way up the ladder. Then eventually you fall in love with your bosses daughter and marry her. Now its obvious that this brings its advantages in the business. But what would you do in this position? Would you use it to put across ideas from the locker room and try to help the general product a little bit? Or would you use it to pretty much secure the top spot in the business for years to come?

I found it pretty tough to come to a conclusion.

Oh I don't think anyone here blames Paul for doing what he does. If you have the option to be Number One and you don't take it you're a fool, but just because I would do it doesn't mean it makes other people happy. And we have had talks about if Jericho was in Hunter's shoes would people be quite as upset, and the answer is yes. Jeff Jarrett now more or less has more power then Hunter in his relm, and we are still mad. Hell Bret Hart could be there and it would still get stale. That is where the anger comes from, not that they are terribly people for doing what's best by them, but becuase for the rest of the world it's boring.

It's possible to be the top guy in a promotion without making everyone else on the roster look bad.

If it were me, I would definitely take the opportunity for a little career advancement, but I wouldn't use my "power" to bury everyone else. The better the on-screen "competition," the better the TV product, the better the business, the bigger my paycheck is.

Absolutly...but I am sure in his eyes he is the biggest draw that company has...so why not push yourself and the comapny at the same time...I mean after all it was Jericho's fault WrestleMania X-8 didn't draw well :shifty:

It's hard to quntify that in TNA.

I could give 2 shits about TNA.If you ask me as good as a roster as they have no one ther can draw really.I just get annoyed how people bad mouth HHH when the truth he is one of WWE there top draws.As well as the fact that anyone else on the roster who can draw is because of HHH.

You seem to forget that HHH is the top draw because no one else is given the chance to draw. Case in point is when RVD was crazy over. He could of been a huge draw, if they would of given him the title over Trips. He had some great matches with Christian and Jericho, two more people who could be a huge draw if they were ever given the oppurtunity to be.

Maybe it's just me, but I sure as hell haven't bought PPV's in the last year and a half because HHH is in the main event. I usually buy them for the "lower" draw guys, you know, like the HBK vs Angle match at WM? Or the money in the bank match? Both of which were head over heels better than either of the title matches.

In order to be a top draw, you have to actually be a draw.

If Triple H is a draw, why do people tune out when he's on TV?

And who do you think is a draw?Sure ratings are up since Batista is champ but would anyone give a shit about him if he beat any other than HHH?

Raw drew a 3.8 rating, down from the recent range of 3.9-4.1 in recent weeks. The show was doing well, building from a 3.8 opening quarter hour rating to three straight 4.0 ratings, but then it crashed around the time of the John Cena music video and numerous commercial breaks. It dropped as low as a 3.5 rating, then grew only to a 3.8 overrun rating for Shawn Michaels vs. Edge, which is bad.

The first hour average was 1.0 higher than the second hour. On Raw, Triple H walked off the show and said he would be missed. Although it was just a storyline scripted line, he may have bragging rights to it being true today.




It seems that HHH aint the one tuning away viewers

Triple H isn't a main event draw anymore. Accept that. He should too.

That would definitively prove something if

1) People knew to tune in to watch Triple H in the first hour because he wouldn't be on Raw.

2) Edge and HBK didn't pull so well (poor for him, but given 5...).

3) You weren't drawing a conclusion from a single instance.

4) You compared quarter hour segments.

5) It didn't crash about the time of a rap video for an aretist whi's on the other show, who many people don't care about, and a show which many Raw viewers still don't get...

Actually, my argument doesn't need to be backed up by statements of who IS a draw, my point is that Triple H is NOT a draw. From that, I can also add to this that, if Trips turns away viewers, and he's the best draw, the WWE would be steadily losing viewers per segment.

This isn't news, and people with more wrestling savvy than you have actually confirmed this (Not that it's too horriblly hard to look at Triple H's segments and see how well they draw).

The problem is, you're the one trying to affirm that he's a top draw, and you can't successfully make that argument, so you're trying to turn the burden to me. Poor you. Can't make your argument, so you accuse me of being unable to make mine.

I have to agree with my pi..I mean KK here. HHH has not drawn well since winning the Undisputed Championship from Jericho. He just hasn't been the same since that win. And really...that's the only win where he drew. After that...it was a steady decline down hill. He's become very cautious, very deliberite and very very repetitive.

As for the whole he's using his backstage pull to be in the top spot....now that's the total truth.

I think this guy is asking for trouble, but anyhow.

See the underlined bit? Can't you see the reason there? I get annoyed by commercial breaks every 5 mins for no reason, so sometimes i end up switching it off for a while, the amount of commercial breaks have scarily risen in these last few years during Raw, and really could count as areason for the poor ratings.

Also notice the words 'cena music video?' Another good reason. I switched over when that came on, and switched back only to find it was still on so i switched over again because it had become annoying and i've only heard it once. So there, there is something other than HHH on Raw you dumbshit.Sure HHH can have all the bragging rights he wants, but fact is that wont change OUR opinion which is based on what's happened over the last few years, not one show.

I haven't brought a Raw PPV in ages because all it is is 'HHH wins once again due to outside interference'.Only watched Backlash because it was free.

Hell, the only reason I didn't surf away is that I have absolutely no desire to see fragments of some other show. It's fucked up, since I have ADHD, and you'd think channel surfing would be up my alley.

But seriously, the minute they announced Cena's video was up next, I went out to my kitchen and did some dishes. While I didn't turn the channel, I did leave the room.

But I gotta admit, it is hard to figure out that if the ratings dropped when Cena's video showed up, Cena's video might be part of the problem.
