Deleting files...

I tried dl'ing Norton 2004 and the key generator (which happened to be a virus, I LOVE YOU NORTON 2003) and they turned up being incomplete downloads.

Now for some reason or another I can't delete them. Every time I try to, it tells me that the files are being used by another person/program

How do I get around this. It's really pissing me off

Alt+Ctrl+Delete and close every program that is not used by the system (or whatever you used to download the files from) and then try and delete. That or go into safe mode and delete it. Only things I can tell you that would work.

I'll give that a try :-\

That has only happened to me when my pop up stopper is running. Try turning yours off and then try deleting it.

Ok, I tried Vega's way and it got rid of one of the files. Now for the other one... :-\

Surely you can just log into safe mode and delete the files. Should work since with Safe Mode running barely any programs actually run. but seeing how as that probably did not work for you all i can suggest is that you delete the file(s) through dos if possible.

It's a relatively easy problem to solve… unless like me, you are running Windows XP.

It wouldn't delete when I ended all unnecessary programs (and rebooted itself when I ended these 4 suspicious looking progs that kept coming back on the list too :|) and wouldn't delete in Safe Mode.

So I made them hidden on the desktop, and left them for a week.

One day, when I was using WS_FTP Pro to upload something, i looked at my desktop in the open file window and saw them, so I tried to just delete them from there… and it worked. :o
