E3 2005
With Sony's conference just about and hour away, I thought it would be a good time to start this thread. Although Microsoft has announced the Xbox 360, Sony and Nintendo are both expected to announce their next generation systems at the expo. With a lesser possibilty on the latter, that is.

I'm thinking about going to E3, yet I'm not registered, nor am I qualified to. My only qualification is that I am over 18.
Who should I bribe and how much bribe money should I offer to get unrestricted floor access for the entire week? If that fails, how many security guards do I need to knock out to get in and how many do I need to knock out inside to ensure that I get a few hours of peace on the show floor? |

Tomorrow. Microsoft is doing their conference tonight and will probably try and hit on more Xbox 360 videos and everything but unless they show Halo 3 footage, I think it won't be that eventful.

After watching the demos they showed for the PS3, it's hard to put into words how realistic these things look sometimes. There are times that it looks just like a movie and then some very nice graphics thrown in. By that I mean you can tell some things are generated but the others look real. They showed a demo of a gas station exploding to show off the lighting and physics. (Please note that it is an actual game in development) The setting looked picture perfect. Couldn't tell at all that it was made with any computer. The explosion was amazing looking but you could tell it was generated. I'll take a picture to show you what I mean.

And the amazing thing is most of those demos only came from a few months of development. Imagine what they'll be able to do in a year or so from now.

Yeah it's amazing. The UnrealEngine 3 demo was only 2 months of development. It looked brilliant.

There is this game called Motor Storm. Every single frame in that game looked real. Every movement, particle, scenery, everything about it.

Gametrailers.com has a video of Fight Night that was shown at the conference. In the forums they also have the Killzone 2 trailer. Gamespot has the FFVII intro tech demo thing, but its pretty low res (I'm assuming there's a high res version if you subscribe).

Probably more on XII. They announced that Final Fantasy XI was going to the Xbox 360 so I guess that too.

Xbox is backward compatible but only "Top titles" supported through emulation... damn, that might hit them hard

I saw the spider man demo thing,the doc ock demo and the tech demo but the "Final Fantasy VII PS3 Real-Time Video" won't work for me.:'(

Alright then on the Final Fantasy front :
A new trailer of Final Fantasy XII has been shown. Pretty hot so far. Lots of new footage, its subtitled so you understand what they are saying and also theres a new version of "One Winged Angel" that plays in the background. Also some new info about FF7: Crisis Core has been posted on IGN and Gamespot. Square showed a concept animation of it at a conference.

With Sony's and Microsoft's offerings both being similar looking in ways, in a usual Nintendo swerve, I'm seeing there next console being somewhat different, stepping up to it's 'Revolution' moniker at least.
Both the PS3 and X-Box 360 have mad ugly controllers, can't wait to see Nintendo's new one. |

Nintendo should be up in a few hours. I watching both Playstations and Xboxs confrence. Playstation one is more details and semi-boring. Focusing more on specs and stuff. Xbox was made to keep you intrested while you watch. I liked how Playstation did theres though, although I wasn't that intrested in the specs it showed more what it can do with examples. Xbox was more, we are going to have a lot of games on Xbox 360 lets show one example. Didn't focus as much on the system as Playstation did.

[NINTENDO E3 CONFERENCE NOTES - SPOILER WARNING]
This is only a few points I've gathered from the Nintendo Conference, nothing of huge detail, just a quick recap. Gamecube: New Games include: RPG Style Pokemon Mario Party 7 Mario Baseball Mario Soccor (Called Mario 'something' Strikers) Mario Dance Mat kinda game Loads more, around 60 new titles to come out on GC by the end of next year No News on Mario 128 though. The NEW Legend of Zelda Game (For which there was an awesome new trailer at the end of the conference) will be titled 'Twlight Princess' DS A lot of stuff about the DS WiFi, DS players will be able to play each other via Hotspots across the world. Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing DS are on the way, which will both heavily support the DS WiFi technology. An impressive piece of DS software/game was shown, titled 'ElectoPlankton' which uses mainly music and sound. Lots more stuff. Game Boy Micro NOT a new piece of Hardware and not a successor to the GB/GBA or the DS. Basically its a Mini Game Boy which can play every GBA game. The covers are interchangable. Revolution Backwards compatible with Gamecube games, via the same disc drive as the DVD style Revolution games. You'll be able to download NES, SNES and N64 games via the Internet using a Revolution. Wireless Controllers, though there was no controller designs shown (Which still keeps my hopes up for an awesome totally Revolutionary controller). About the size of 3 DVD cases stacked together (As I'm sure is already known). The Design isn't finished yet, as is the colour of the console, which Iwata said could be decided by us, the gaming public. Shigsy is working on a new Game/Character for the Revolution, as well as development for release title games from the likes of Super Smash Brothers. Some other stuff lol. Whao...the Nintendo stuff just sounds awsome. And here I was thinking that Nintendo had just one good consol left in them. If their new one rocks like I'm hoping it will, Nintendo might just kick Sony and Microsoft's asses.

I love Xbox so much, but as of now, I'm less concerned about it than the other two.
PS3 REALLY has my attention (love the console, love the controller), and it looks like Nintendo might be stepping up. |
I'm probably going to skip the X Box this generation and only get the Revolution and PS3. PS3 first, though, right around launch. You can't go wrong with GTA. :y:

The revolution is looking awesome, and the PS3 demos are amazing, the GT5, Motor Storm, and the tech demo's were all really impressive.
The 360 is falling behind in graphics from what I've seen so far, but I still want it for Live play. I'm still trying to make my way through footage and things, can't belive a new Tekken has been announced already though. |
