Biggest Waste of a Gimmick Match (2000 Posts)

I'd have to say Triple H vs Nash in the Hell in a Cell. Piling more dirt on a once great legacy.

(P.S, 2000 Posts, WOOOO!!!)

Cool King 05-18-2005 09:10 AM

Jericho VS Nash in a Hair VS Hair match on RAW.:n:

And Congratulations on reaching 2000 posts.:y:

I thought the HITC was bearable.

Mine would be:

The Kennel from Hell
Any blindfold match
Viagra on a pole

Xero 05-18-2005 09:43 AM

Kennel from Hell and Judy Bagwell on a Pole.

SuperSlim 05-18-2005 09:56 AM

kennel from hell really really shat upon the HITC legacy. Then also having HHH vs. Nash in theredidn't help either

hair vs. hair on Raw isn't cool.

then those retarded matches they had in WCW like pinata on a pole/Judy on a pole. that pinata one was just disrepsectful

Big Show Vs Akebono....SUMO MATCH...@ F'n MANIA...WTF WWE

NoRoolz 05-18-2005 11:25 AM

I haven't seen any of the WCW matches mentioned. Undertaker/Bossman/HIAC at WMXV was shitting on the HIAC legacy a little, there was no reason for them even to be in the cell (except for the brood to hang Bossman  ). But things like Kennel from Hell, which did suck, doesn't really shit on the legacy of HIAC, as it is a different match all together.

Oh and congrats :y:.

Hmmm... I would have to go with TLC III/TLC IV from SD and Raw.

These weren't that bad... :-\

Of course, they've got nothing on the first two.

NoRoolz 05-18-2005 03:37 PM

LOL I didn't even know there was a fourth TLC. Who was in it?

I agree with Marcyo in that number 3 wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that good either.

I think the WWE could pull off another TLC now, maybe Dudleys V Kidman and London (re-united) V MNM? As long as the match is at P.P.V I think this would be similar to the first 2, with MNM like E&C, Kidman and London like the Hardys, and the Dudleys like errrm...the Dudleys.

I view a waste of a gimmick match as being a potentially interesting match with the wrong people in it or the match gimmick being unfulfilled.

Nash and Trips killed the hell in a cell match because neither were in a physical condition where they could use the enjoyable aspects of the cell.

Although the match itself was fun, putting Kane into a first blood match back in 1999 was a stupid idea. If you have no exposed skin, how can they tell if you're bleeding?

The whole concept of hardcore matches as "no-DQ falls-count-anywhere" bloodbaths was weakened by Crash Holly as hardcore champ.

Rather than putting the Dudleys in there...

Los Guereros vs London and Mysterio vs MNM

now that Eddy and Chavo are both heels, it could heat up both the london/chavo feud and the eddy/rey feud while making the tag belts look valuable.

shit, this made way too much sense. Forget it.

Jordan 05-18-2005 05:17 PM

Nah man, Rey Jr. and RVD v.s Los Guereros v.s MNM would be tight

Biggest waste of a gimmick match...Bossman vs. Undertaker Hell in a Cell from WrestleMania XV...

It was a waste becuae up to that point the 2 Hell in a Cell matches where incredible, then they came along and they didn't have a TERRIBLe match, but it was boring and they could have just of easily had a regular no DQ match. They didn't incorperate the cell at all thus making it officially a waste. :n:

Dean Malenko vs. Billy Kidman - Catch-as-Catch-Can match

Worst gimmick match has to be the "Chamber of Horrors" match form WCW Halloween Havoc 1991. An electric chair in the middle of the ring that is the main focus. Give me a break. Worst match ever in my opinion.

redoneja 05-18-2005 10:11 PM

What about the Coal Miner's Glove match between Sting and Jake Roberts at Halloween Havoc 1992? A "steel lined" glove was placed at the top of a pole and the first person to get it could use it. Sting got it but Jake somehow got ahold of a (rubber) snake. Before Jake could use the snake, Sting hit him in the ribs and the "snake" bit Jake. Sting then pinned Roberts while the "snake" was still biting his face.

That's not really a waste of a gimmick match though. It's not like the Chamber Of Horrors match was a reknowned classic match type and they ruined it. It was a crappy gimmick rather than a waste of a gimmick.

A waste of a gimmick is having a hair versus hair match between two bald guys (Long/Ellering) or a ladder match between two people who are not suited to high flying.

yea i guess your right. ok then Fall Brawl War Games 1998, when they absolutley threw out all of the original rules and made it three teams and you could win by pinfall? absolute ruining of the best cage match style ever.
