RAW Preview for May 23, 2005

Just one week after winning the Gold Rush Tournament, the new official No. 1 Contender, Edge, will get his opporunity at the World Heavyweight Championship.

Last week, Edge earned more money in the bank by beating Kane in the finals of the Gold Rush Tournament, but it took a shocking betrayal from Kane’s wife Lita to get the win. Now, Batista will have to try to focus on a competitor hell-bent on winning the World Heavyweight Championship, while keeping an eye on Edge's cunning companion Lita. Batista must also look out for Edge’s prized briefcase, which has now been used to knock off — literally — the likes of Shawn Michaels and the Big Red Monster.


Tonight's encounter will be the first time Edge and Batista will be opponents since the Elimination Chamber Match at New Year’s Revolution, where they each had four other combatants to face simultaneously in the frenzied environment. This week on RAW will be a very different scene; Batista and Edge will be able to prepare solely for each other and craft a strategy designed to leave Green Bay, Wisc., victorious.



For the past few weeks, RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff has said that he was the one who killed ECW. Tonight on RAW, Bischoff intends on killing it yet again — this time with an ECW funeral. Tune in tonight to see exactly what Bischoff has planned.


In a RAW rematch, Chris Jericho & Shelton Benjamin get another crack at Muhammad Hassan & Daivari. After what transpired last time, can Y2J get the result he’s looking for?


It was in Chris Masters’ RAW debut that he broke Steven Richards’ nose and the orbital bone around his eye, putting him out of action for several months. While it was an impressive victory for the newcomer known as “The Masterpiece,” it was a loss and beating Richards would not forget. Tonight on RAW, Steven gets his chance at revenge in a long-awaited rematch.


And sexy RAW Diva Maria will interview the 485-pound Viscera. What does Big Vis have to say after his advances toward Lilian during the Lingerie Pillow Fight last week?

I say Edge wins tonight.

So do I. It would swerve everybody.

He'll get screwed out of it though and Bank in his rematch at the PPV I'll bet.

I just thought of something. Maybe Edge will ALMOST win, but something will happen, like Triple H interfering and setting up Batista/Triple H in the Cell. Edge will be pissed and want his title shot at Vengeance, he's granted it, and it becomes a triple threat Hell in a Cell.

It would be the perfect setup for Edge winning the title in my opinion, because I look at it this way, if Edge has that contract, he's bound to win when he gets that match, and beating both Batista and Triple H would be HUGE.

The monster known as Kane will be reborn tonight and will cost Edge the title. You can bank on it

...He doesn't win...Triple H and Batista continue to feud through...whatever the next PPV is...Edge wants to use his Money in the Bank shot...but Kane will want revenge at SummerSlam...before you know it we have Batista, Hunter, Edge, Kane, and two others in an Elimination Chamber at Slam...

Or at least that's how I see it playing out.

Naw, it'll prolly end up just being Batista vs Trips and Kane vs Edge. Then Edge can bank on it after SS

However they handle the Edge situation, he has to win the title in the end. They are building this up to where it's almost obvious that Edge is going to win it. If he doesn't win the title in the end, then they wasted the entire storyline of the Money in the Bank contract, and wasted however long they wait for him to get the shot.

Knowing the WWE, Edge will get his shot on some random RAW and lose.

When has the WWE ever objected against wasting storylines?

And Maria gets to talk. I wonder how she would react to being flashed by Trish.

Never. That's why it's more likely for him to use it on a random RAW because the champion spat in his coffee and lose than the WWE using it as a platform to get him over big.

Yeah I wonder what Maria is gonna say tonight. Something funny probably.

And we see Flair act more and more like a babyface tonight

Batista will beat Edge, Triple H will come out and beat the shit out of Batista. Edge uses his Money in the Bank match right then and there and pins Batista to win the title.

Lita (in Edge's prematch interview): Kane, I love Matt now! I never loved you! I was always with Matt!

*Edge whispers in Lita's ear.*

Lita: OOPS! Can we start over?

No, Masters is just offering the challenge to someone beneath the fan plants he's been use to.

Thank god for no Masterlock Challenge. I shall contioue to make sacrifices until that thing is aborted like so many other WWE storylines.
