Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion
I know it's like maaaaaad early and the release date isn't for some time, but I'm so excited about the prospect of the new game that I'm marking out like when Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker came out. Marked out esp. for Ocarina
But anyways, lets discuss the stuff we've read, possible rumours, new aspects etc, whatever you want. *For those who don't want to know anything some story and game, spoiler warning to you* I was reading an article on Nintendovip with Shigsy, Eiji Aonuma and Koji Kondo (The Music Guy) and they said a few things that I hadn't seen before and thought I would start the discussion with: So if Link goes into Twilight Hyrule, he becomes a wolf? Aonuma: Twilight is fuelled by magic power and Link can't exist in his human form in that area. We can't go into details, but it is part of his destiny to become that wolf. At the beginning of the trailer we see black and white visuals of a castle; is that Hyrule Castle? And if so, what's going on there? Aonuma: Yep, at the beginning of the trailer you saw Link sucked into this black miasma we call the Twilight… and yes, that is Hyrule Castle, transformed by the Twilight. So what's with the robe? (Talking about Princess Zelda) Does she have some connection to what’s going on, and to Link's transformation into a wolf? Aonuma: The robe is based on a Japanese funeral robe. Zelda can't stop Twilight from taking over Hyrule, and her inability to halt Twilight at this point has a definite connection with Link's transformation, but we can't tell you more yet. Who or what is this character Riding Link in Wolf form? Aonuma: She is Midna, a resident of the Twilight realm. She has her own motivations and thinks that wolf-Link can help her, so they begin a co-operative relationship. Other points include: Link's attacks as a wolf are effected by Midna riding on his back (Which personally I think has something to do with the Red flag/cloth that comes from her head/back. Koji Kondo talked about that the game will feature Orchestrated music along the way in the game, but only at specific and major parts or where they think the orchestra feel will add to the feel and dynamics of the game. Zelda  Discuss... |
Out before the end of this year. Gonna be awesome. Love how they've added a new gameplay mechanic that doesnt change the game totally.
Can't wait. |
|
Plus from watching the E3 trailers and the 30 minute demo, Link's new attacks/riding the horse and fighting LOOK AWESOME :y:
|
This game may actually get me off WoW for a couple weeks
|
This game is going to be awesome, but I doubt it'll be better that OoT, which was pretty much perfection.
|
Yeah I'm also doubting whether it will be better or as good as Ocarina. Though the thing about that is, the whole timing of Ocarina, it was the first 3D Zelda game as well as it didn't come out that long (around 2 years I think) into the N64's life, so at the time it was cutting edge stuff, along with the graphics, awesome gameplay and storyline.
It could also be an age thing, where when Ocarina come out, you were (like me) at the age when you were into games a hell of a lot (I'm not saying that people still don't at any age, as I'm more into games now than I've ever been) but I've got to that age and skill where I complete every game I buy, and when I look back to old school NES days, I probably never completed a game lol (No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't fucking beat the Turtles game for the NES and probably never will complete it likewise for the original Zelda on NES). To me when playing Ocarina and looking back on it, I think that it's one of the first games I truly involved myself into enough to keep at it and complete it, as well as the timing of the games release, the technology at the time, my age and love for the Zelda games. Though Twilight Princess will probably better Ocarina in a lot of ways, I'm not seeing it surpass Ocarina in terms of fan favouritism. And although I love Wind Waker and seem to play it more than Ocarina, Ocarina still has that something about it that makes the game and some of the things that happen in game my favourite and most memorable gaming moment of all time. |
I think I was 15 or so when OoT came out so I was still at school, and I did'nt have a job, so I had a hell of a lot more spare time to get into the game.
I was talking to someone else at work the other night, and somehow Zelda came up, and he ws raving aabout how good OoT was, and this guy is not a huge gamer. I went home an started a new file, just beat King Dodongo... |
Can't f'n wait for this, Zelda > everything.
I didn't beat TMNT on the NES (cleanly :shifty: ) either, for some reason I find NES games really solid to beat now :( Also I wouldn't say OoT was perfection, it was the best Zelda game, but i'd just like it to be like twice or three times as long, like a Final Fantasy or Secret of Mana game usually is  Although I guess with no levelling up and shit, you can't really have that in a Zelda game :( |
Yeah I find a lot of older games, specifically NES games mad hard to beat.
Games inparticular are Solar Jetman, which pissed me off to no end and the Turtles game. I do remember coming right to the end of Zelda on the NES, but I lent it out to a mate who deleted my file. Bastard. |
Zelda 1 is f'n easy
Zelda 2 is one of the only ones (actually the only one, besides minish cap) that I haven't beaten. |
Yeah I didn't even wanna play through Zelda 2 it was that bad. Minish Cap is pretty awesome though.
|
mmmm Zelda.
*watches Trailers again* |

OoT is the best Zelda ever. I lost my cartridge, which suck.
I'd kill for a OoT port to DS. I loved Super Mario 64 DS, and the graphics were eevn better than on the 64. OoT DS would be awesome. |

Twilight Princess update:
Zelda Delayed to Next Year Twilight Princess development team requests extra time to make it a better game. August 16, 2005 - Nintendo announced this morning that its anticipated new adventure game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, has been delayed. The title, formerly scheduled to debut this November around the world, has since been postponed to 2006 so that the developer can continue to make the game better. "After much discussion, the Zelda development team has requested extra time to add new levels, more depth and even higher quality to Zelda: Twilight Princess," said Nintendo of America's vice president of corporate affairs, Perrin Kaplan. "Consequently, we're announcing a new global launch in 2006, after the conclusion of this fiscal year (March 31). We'll provide a specific date at a later point in time. While this may come as a disappointment to many eager fans, it will absolutely enrich the game and make it a multi-million seller." The whole article can be read here: http://cube.ign.com/articles/642/642238p1.html It's pretty crap that it's been moved back to next year as I was soooo looking forward to playing it a lot over Christmas in the holidays, but if it's all for the good of the final game, it worth the wait. Though it's worth the wait anyway. |
Come on. Ocarian of Time was delayed almost a year and look how it turned out. My hopes are still up.
|
I actually wish more game developers would do that. *coughSVRcough* Make sure the game is 100% as good as you can make it instead of cutting corners to meet an arbitrary deadline. Zelda fans (like me!) will wait as long as it takes to play the next step forward in the series as long as it delivers great gameplay and story.
I haven't been disappointed yet. |
I wish more developers did what Nintendo did and explained why they are delaying it, and then providing more feedback like they did here with screenshots.
Gets rid of those highly annoying people that start bitching about it constantly. Luckily, no one has done that in this topic yet. Much respect :y: |
This is because of the awesomeness that is Zelda, as Loppydate said.
Again, if it's all for the good of the game, then there's no complaints here. |
I'm not complaining. I'll have have Hulk, Spider-Man, Geist (although reviews aren't promising) and DoR 2 to tide me over.
|
Sorry for bumping this thread but I'm suddenly wanting this game and I was going to make a "hype me up for the new Zelda" thread but thought I'd use this thread (so there is no waste of space).
I read that the release date is May 2006 for the UK. Not sure on the US release but Gamefaqs says Quarter 1 2006 UK and Quarter 2 2006 US. Anyone got any new information or videos or a solid date of release? again, sorry for bumpng this. |
Gameplay.com say 25th March for the UK release, and they're usually pretty accurate.
|
So far, if I'm not mistaken, the pending release date is April 1, 2006, I believe.
It'll be hot, but if that's really the date, I don't mind waiting. Seems like all of the good RPGs are getting delayed for extra work (Zelda, Kingdom Hearts 2, etc.). |
Anyone got any stuff (preferable details on cool features or a video) to hype me up?

Not exactly a video, but it might provide a bit of info. RARELY have I seen EB Games be wrong on a date. It even says that it's not confirmed, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that was right, as EB usually is. The Gamestop stores I've been to on the other hand...Nothing but inaccurate facts. I got so many wrong release dates from GS (Resident Evil Outbreak, RE Outbreak File #2, RE 4, The Matrix: Path of Neo, just to name a few). I'm not sure if it'll affect anything since EB and Gamestop merged, but EBGames has said April 1 - 3 for quite some time now. |
Tons of stuff on www.video.google.com when you type in zelda. Even the announcement of the game at E3 (and everyone cheering and one guy screaming his lungs off like he was at a wrestlemania main event. )http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...512412&q=zelda
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...859071&q=zelda  |
Fuck yes
|
How big will Hyrule be exactly? It looks like it will be bloody huge!
|
Yeah, this game is so going to own.
Can't wait! |
This game will be fantastic; I'm sure of it. Link to the Past is my favorite and I'm hoping this can surpass it. Twleve games in and with the exception of no.2 there really hasn't been a bad Zelda game. Majora's Mask was spectacular, and of course OoT has to be mentioned. Twilight Princess will blow everyone away, just like Zelda always has.
|
April 3rd? Sweet. Righ around my birthday, so I know I'll have some cash lying around for it.

*insert masturbation smiley*

There is 12 pages of pics on IGN and 10 pages of video interviews and ingame footage.
This video looks cool. |

The Boogeyman makes a special guest appearance in the latest Zelda game. http://img433.imageshack.us/img433/9...17499187do.jpg Nobody liked the secret character in Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. |
Seriously tempted to go buy a used GC just for this game. I'm still waiting for my copy of OoT in the mail that a friend is sending me. I no longer have my old copy of it.
