hey fellers, i need a reminder about the King of the Ring tourny
 

For the damn of me, i cant remember if the winner of the tourney gets a title shot or not? I remember Brock getting a shot soon after KOR, but was it BECAUSE KOR? Im getting mixed up because i remember Billy Gunn winning the tourny, but dont remember him ever getting a title shot

I'm pretty sure they added the title shot thing in the last two or three years that KOTR existed, and before that the guys were just pushed more heavily.

Winning the KOTR didn't get you a title shot. Although it did mean that you were getting pushed that way. Mable, Austin, and others got title shots very soon after.

Not really. The winner of the KOTR tournament got nothing, it was more to do with building support/heat behind a midcarder for them to hopefully go on and one day challenge for the belt (e.g. Edge).

However, the very last KOTR, won by Lesnar, stipulated a title shot at Summerslam, at which he beat the Rock to become the youngest ever champion at that time. I imagine this was done as management saw the potential in Brock and wanted to push him asap into the role, which some people blame for his early burn-out and departure.

aaaah, so basically it led to a title shot, but not reward a title shot to the winner, it makes more sense now. Good call on the Edge KOR win w/o title shot, forgot about that one.

Winning the KOTR did lead to a title shot at SummerSlam BUT ONLY at the last event! As said, Lesnar won the shot and hence was pushed to the main event.

Every other year you just won the title of "King" sometimes getting an 'Inaugaration Ceremony' at the ppv a la Bret, Owen, Mable, Austin, spmetimes the ceremony was on Raw a la Angle and Edge and sometimes you just won a la Billy Gunn.
