What program do I need to watch .avi video files?

More specifically I can hear the file, and the screne displays everything like it's a music file...how can I alter it so I can see the picture?

That sounds like an codec problem to me.

Install that program, it contains dozens of codecs, I'm sure one of them will make your 'music' file turn into into a video file.

And yeah, it is definitely a codec problem.

And as Samichna offered, I guarantee that it is the Divx codec that you need.
