What's all this hype about?
Why's everybody going bonkers over Christian and Edge all of a sudden? Did I miss something here? Has anybody here actually WATCHED Edge wrestle? I know the WWE is frantically trying to shove him into a main event match, but i'm not buying it. And I could go on and on about Christian, but I don't want this to take up too much space. I'll sum it up by saying that apparently i'm the only one in here who watches RAW that doesn't get a hard when Christian prances around the ring, kissing his fingers and slapping his chest like a softmore in high school.
There's a reason you'll never see a paper view headlined by "Christian vs.The Undertaker", or "Christian vs. Triple H". I don't mind the guy, but there is such a thing as a permanent upper-mid carder. Unfortunatly, that defines Chris Jericho's character, but it also defines Christians. He's not going to be up there, so cut the bitching about the WWE "not realizing his potential" blah blah blah blah blah........ |
Fact of the matter is EVERYONE realises Christian's potential. When the WWE went to the UK, monsterous reaction, Everytime the WWE travels to Canada, huge ovations for Captain Charisma again. Everytime there's a solid reaction for Christian (which is every week now), you can practically here Jerry Lawler and JR's minds tick "Good work, kid." and you can feel the energy.
Christian is something fresh, and he's something entertaining. The same goes for Edge. Edge is a great worker, and he's great on the mic, and he was really hitting his stride on SmackDown!. I really miss "Funny Edge" instead of "Rah Edge", but at least Edge is getting close to a World Title, so good for him. Most people are sick and tired of Triple H, Triple H, Triple H. Edge & Christian bring a new dynamic to the World Title divisions, and I'm glad they do. I remember around New Year's Revolution feleing that omething big was around the corner for the brothers, and I hope a run on SD! is in-store for Christian, and a World Title reign is in-line for Edge. |
I give this thread 10 posts before someone squeezes a Lita botch joke in.
|
As Alienoid06 said Edge really was hitting his stride on Smackdown. It wouldnt have been out of place for him to start going for the world title at that point. So hes been at the level in my opinion for a long while.

Just noticed that. Hulkamania320 isn't even good enough to be a douchebag. He's the applicator. |
Christian is funny. He's pretty much the only person in WWE that is funny now.

*Christian and Tomko are looking at the Smackdown roster* Christian: Look at some of these guys. John Cena  The Undertaker  Tomko: Who's Mark Jindrak?!! Christian: I don't know. But I beat him. Don't about you guys but I cracked up when Tomko said that. |
Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Most people just see Christian as incredibly entertaining on the mic. As noted by Alienoid06, its a change of pace. And not just form Triple H.
For months and months and months Raw was all about the Evolution group. And they looked intimidating. But aside from Flair's promos, they were boring as hell to listen to. Christian is funny. He's clever. He has more than one facial expression. Oh, and he actually loses a match every once in a while (probably more so than he should if the WWE were really serious about pushing him). e's able to pay an arrogant heel without dragging the show toa complete stop or having everyone on the roster job to him. He's got talent falling out of his ears. And, especially if he ends up on SD, there's no reason not to have him headline a PPV. |
Whilst reading this thread I listened to Christians theme music and marked out.
Christian>you |

Don't forget his facial expressions... especially when Christian is booked in a match where he's screwed.
|
When Bischoff announced Batista vs. Christian, Christian was all excited and pumped, Tomko was like, "what the fuck did you get us into?"
|
And yeah if you go anywhere and read what people thought was the best segment on RAW, most people say that Christian's 3 minute promo was the best. Not HHH's coma inducing promo.
|
I really liked Edge before his neck injury, but ever since he his returned he is nowhere near what he used to be... and has anyone else notice that his moveset has be reduced. I remember the good ol' days of the electric chair drop, edgecution, edge"o" matic, edgeacator, the downward spiral.... ect ect. Now its just the spear. I dont hate Edge, he has just gotten a little stale to me. Plus I have never gotten over wwe never explianing who broke his neck. I guess it was just one of those things that never happen.

Like a few months ago he had a match against Randy Orton. By that point I really didn't care about Orton and hated him as the terrible face he was. However, in that match, Christian (and Tomko I guess) MADE you care about Randy and root for him. As for Edge, I thought he was always above average in the ring. His new heel character intrigued me for the first few months or so. However, I must admit, his character has already turned stale for me, and the addition of Lita makes it all so much worse. Now I don't really look forward to seeing him. |
Uh yeah.....Pay Per View.

Personally I think Christian is one of the greatest around when it comes to the mic, he's one of the best around no doubt. His movelist is lacking though, but that doesn't always make a superstar, and in Christian's case, it doesn't. He has great charisma to back it all up (hence Captain Charisma, duh) and makes me crack up constantly. When I went to RAW a few weeks ago, he had loads of segments and the crowd were laughing they're asses off after every one, he's such a showman. And he came down to the ring twice and got huge, and I mean huge pops, which were then unfortunately edited out on TV, but I think it was probably the biggest pop of the night. I think he's got it all right to be WWE Champion in the near future and I hope the WWE run with that (looks like they will with all the stuff he's been saying about John Cena lately). He can go a long way.

My old Screen Name for AOL was "ChristianAboveEdge"...but that was like 6 years ago (1999) so I guess I must have JUST realised how much he rules...damn me being a Ban Wagon Jumper!
Oh and talking down to guys like Christian is the last thing Hulk Hogan marks are qualified for. |

and as always, when Bandwagons are mentioned I have to say..."STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THE BILLY GUNN ONE! THAT'S MINE AND I PEED ALL OVER IT TO MARK IT AS SUCH!" ;)

That's why it smells funny. I thought it was because Billy stinks.
|
Christian is good because he's one of the best on the mic and one of the best in the ring. how often do you see him screw up? Everyone messed up something every once in a while, that doesn't bother me. To me Christian ahs been so consistently great over the years. I can't remember him having a bad match.
And Edge's character is good and all and ready for the push, but I don't think Edge the wrestler is ready for this big push. He just doesn't flow well. Think of all the guys he's had good matches with: Benoit, Angle, Eddie, Christian. Those guys can carry a match and make someone look good when needed. Christian is ready for a main event push. Just give him more main event matches. |
LOL "Hype"
Do you even understand what hype means? Cause you obviously don't with the way you're using it in your statement There's nothing "hype" about Christian coming out each week and getting cheeredlike crazy. I guess you don't hear the crowd when he comes out. That's alright, neither does Vince. |
So he isn't the biggest guy on the roster. He isn't married to the boss' daughter. But, Christian is definitely the most entertaining at the moment. You have to give him credit for being a hell of a worker - and a good sport. Remember the bug-eye glasses? Ass cream? All I can say is, if Christian moves to Smackdown, I will have to break my year-long ban and watch the damn show. He rules.
|
Vince hears it. He's just looking for a way to attribute it to Chris Masters.
|
We like him because he's good and he's overlooked alot.
He takes mad bumps, sells like crazy, is 5 stars on the mic, and comes up with some innovative moves. I don't see what's not to like about him. |

Christian has got to be one of the best guys on the mic the WWE has to offer nowadays. With the Rock out for right now, Christian has got to be spot on when it comes to on the mic promos. Jericho's fine for some backstage stuff but Christian has got to be great on the mic. If they move him over to Smackdown, that'll give SD! such a kick in the pants that both JBL and Cena will have to up their game at least 100% to keep up with CC.
Now if only someone could tell HHH that when Christian does a promo, that's how he was about 5 years ago. Maybe then he'll stop making me turn him off whenever he's on the screen. |

I get the sudden urge to go take a piss. |
I hate to be a downer, but I have a horrible feeling that the WWE isn't going to capitalize on Christian's current potential, and he'll end up another Chris Jericho. Please God let me be wrong!
|
Oh, snap.
