PSP Games

I'm thinking about saving up for a PSP for when it comes out here in September. It's either that or save up to buy a DS now, but I've played on my friends one and I'm not too fussed about it. So, just wondering what good games are out there in the US at the moment, or ones that are scheduled to come out soon that make the PSP worth buying?

Depends on what kind of games you're into. I still love my PSP. Right now I'm playing Hot Shots Golf. I still play Lumines every now and then, its truly one of the best tetris style games I've ever played (I even like it better than tetris). Ridge Racer was good as well as NFL Street 2.

On the horizon, I'm looking forward to
Burnout Legends
X-Men Legends 2
Marvel Nemesis
Midnight Club 3
Madden 06 (able to transfer your franchise from PS2 to PSP and continue your game)
Breath of Fire 3
Viewtiful Joe

Stuff that others are looking forward to:
Dax
Medieval
Mega Man Legends
Ghost in the Shell
GTA: Liberty City Stories
Death Jr

There's still a lot of titles on the way. I wish more of them would come out sooner rather than later, but it looks like there will be a very solid library out there in a few months. Not that you can't find some really good games in the already released batch.

Not really interested on much of the PSP, but Ridge Racer, Wipeout and Hot Shots Golf are worth having.

Burnout Legends is by far looking the best thing to come out soon.

Iwas looking forward to Viewtiful Joe and the whole VFX battle looks to be hot. Planned for PSP and Gamecube, but from what I've seen, no PS2 port? The DS Viewtiful Joe is going to be a weird one, but if they can pull that off in execution, it should be hot

Back to DS/PSP, I've been more taken with my DS so far, ourely because of it's freshness, but since both consoles have an equal amount of great games coming out soon I would wait for a bit :)

Thanks for the info. I guess by the time it comes out here there might be some more decent games out, or shortly after. I'll know not to panic if they don't come out right away :y:

Oh another question. I'm going to the States next month. If I bought a PSP there, would I be able to play games from over here on it when they come out? Probably a dumb question :$

Yeah, you just have to buy a UK charger or a converter for the US one.

Probably best you do, with the exchange rate you'll probably save quite a bit of cash

So, are you sure it would work? I thought PAL stuff didn't work with NTSC (that is the USA game format right?) stuff, and vice versa.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-07-2005 03:30 PM

Yeah, the DS and PSP are both region free for games.

Most my games are bought from the US these days anyways, check out this site: www.dvdboxoffice.com

Ah right, thanks a lot. I'll just get it from there then :y: Good stuff.

AareDub 06-07-2005 11:40 PM

Games are region free, but the UMD movies aren't. The movies aren't really a big deal anyway.

Team Sheep 06-08-2005 01:22 PM

Yeah I probably won't be buying any movies.

That doesn't seem to affect either portable. The formatting of NTSC/PAL deals with televisions specifically.
