Just played Mega Man 2 on my PSP

Hooray, they finally cracked the 1.5 firmware and my PSP mem stick is chocked full of emulators and roms. NES emulation is perfect and most of the games even look pretty good in widescreen (you can do normal aspect ratio if you prefer). Some SNES games work better than other, I played through a bit of Link to the Past, everything is pretty good except the rain sound which is pretty much only a problem at the beginning.

You have to do a ridiculous memory stick swap thing to get it working, but after you get the hang of it, its not too bad at all. Anyway to sum it all up...

 I  my PSP

You have to crank up the megahurtz on the SNES emus to get a decent speed, which some have said is dodgy enough.

As a side note, if you've upgraded your firmware, you're shit out of luck. It doesn't work on 1.51 or 1.52. Also, some games are going to enforce firmware upgrades soon. Nice hack, but something more permanent needs to be found

I don't own a PSP, but PS2NFO is a site I check constantly, considering I have a modded PS2. I imagine they will find something permanent at some point. Honestly, nothing is ever perfect from being cracked or modded.

Even at 333mhz most of the SNES games aren't very playable. RPGs work pretty well, which is a good thing, and Super Mario World works perfectly. This should be good enough for me to finally play through Final Fantasy 3.

I love it. People are all over how great this feature of the PSP is, while they're actively fighting its use.

What the hell? Hahaha I was like "oh snap, emulator games on PSP" then I realized you have to do nerd work to do it. No idea what you guys said. :(

Nah, its not that hard. You just have to have 2 memory sticks. Once you've got that, all you have to do is download a few things and copy the stuff over to your mem sticks.

AlphaBean 06-18-2005 03:02 PM

I read the tutorial.

Then I closed the mozilla window EMPHATICALLY and threw my monitor out of the window, for effect.

Now you don't even have to swap mem cards!

AareDub 06-23-2005 01:58 PM

Yea, its pretty hot. You still have to split the file, but they both go on the same card. Don't worry AlphaBean, the program does EVERYTHING for you. Just plug your psp in and let the program do the rest.
