In your area, did the ad for Smackdown...(EDIT--Spoilers from Smackdown--)

...Say that the draft result would be announced in the first ten minutes?

When UPN 38/Boston was hyping the draft lottery, they then said "Don't miss the first ten minutes" So I was wondering if anything similar was hyped elsewhere.

Edited since people have now mentioned who the draft pick is for this week. Not directly, but you'd have to be stupid not to figger it out.

M. Banana 06-17-2005 10:52 PM

I don't know... I missed the entire 1.5 hours.

Have they shown the draft pick yet? Or did I miss it?

Kane Knight 06-17-2005 10:57 PM

I have a feeling he's coming out during this match.

Kane Knight 06-17-2005 10:58 PM

I didn't see him announced on SD! yet though. I may have missed him, but I don't think I did. That would take more than the 30 seocnds I was off pissing, I think.

Kane Knight 06-17-2005 10:59 PM

Yah, he just showed up.

James Steele 06-17-2005 11:55 PM

I got pissed off because that worthless overrated son of a bitch was back on my TV and now he's going to steal the spotlight from true talents like Benoit and Guerrero! http://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif

Yeah, it said that before the show.

It was all like "You do NOT want to miss the first ten minutes!!!"

Maybe they meant the last ten minutes.

Even then, there wasn't much to miss until the interference...

Yeah. Were we supposed to actually boo Eminem for interrupting a pointless Heidenreich/Divas promo?

Then again, Heidenreich + huge chocolate candy bar = ratings

So you had three boring people mocking one boring person.

I mean, come on. How creative do you have to be to mock Heidenreich's poems? Michael Cole did it. :|

SuperSlim 06-18-2005 02:16 PM

ah man that segment sounds like crap

Kane Knight 06-18-2005 02:20 PM

Also, since there are already spoilers in here, is it me, or did the Undertaker get a PERM?

Corkscrewed 06-18-2005 03:55 PM

Hey... Melina's top was slipping pretty down in that cat fight... :shifty:

darkpower 06-19-2005 12:36 AM

Back on subject here.

My UPN station didn't do this, even though they are seemly proud of their UPN affiliation.

Though I cannot say a lot of good things about our UPN station (which just got started this past December and replaced UPN19/Pittsburgh on our cable systems). they sometimes run too many commercials and thus cut off about the first10-30 seconds out of a program on UPN. And they run that damn Focus On The Family (or should we call it "Fuckup Of The Family") thing every newscast with Dr. Strange Dobsion. But they finally got a UPN affiliate in WV, so that isn't all bad...I hope.

M. Banana 06-19-2005 12:42 AM

the ads here are always like that btw

only it says "THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES"

SuperSlim 06-19-2005 12:46 AM

yeah when I used to see ads here they would always say don't miss the first five minutes.

nothin happens in the first five minutes cept for talking.

Kane Knight 06-19-2005 12:57 AM

I don't think I've ever seen them do this on WSBK before.

parkmania 06-20-2005 10:33 AM

It's called trying to drive ratings. Most TV shows get their ratings in 10 or 15 minute intervals. If you get people to tune in for the first 10-15 minutes of a show, then the entire half-hour or hour gets that rating. Bigger rating = higher cost to advertisers who want to put their spot on during that show.
