Consoles
Okay which out of the three new consoles whould you buy?
I wish I could pick more than one cause I wanna eventually et the PS3 and Xbox 360
Most likely the PS3.
All of them eventually.
I will probably get an XBox 360 at launch if the rumoured prices are to be believed.
I'ma wait a month or 2 before all of them come out then (as it looks now) buy a Revolution. 5 systems in one are greater then one new one........6 if they put in V-boy.
Stop making polls if people can't answer them right.
I'd like to say X-Box 360, but Playstation has IMO, put out the better games (aside from a handfull of X-Box titles).
All of them if I can.
Xbox 360 and Revolution. Can't see myself getting a PS3.
PS3 and Revolution. I got shit out of my X Box. All of the games I like for X Box are either multiplatform or ported to PC. The ONLY X Box-only game I ever liked was Munch's Oddysee. I even hate Halo.
On the other hand, I play my PS2 and Gamecube frequently because they have the best games in my opinion. The PS3 will be my first next gen system. |
PS3
Voted PS3.
PS3 because I am a Sony fanboy.
ps3 and xbox360
PS3 will be the first system I go after though
PS3. I would get an Xbox if it wasn't for the Smackdown! series.
The RVN.
PS3 or 360.
I like Nintendo just fine, but the only thing I'd get the Revolution for would be the Sonic/Shadow the Hedgehog games. I don't even care about that backwards compatability. And PS3 is picking up Resident Evil 5, so aside from Sonic, Nintendo is stale to me. I won't even play SSBM: Online if there are no Sonic characters in it. |
I may end up getting all 3 of them.
It depends heavily on a few things:
I'm gonna start with the Revolution.

If I can't get all three (but I will eventually) and had to choose one, I'd go with XB360; however unimpressed I really am. XBox Live Gold is the leverage Microsoft will need, and the gamebreaker for my decision.
Revolution, no contest
One more reason to go with PS3, the add-on hard-drive comes with a pre-installed version of Linux on it!
Yeah, because so many gamers actually care about that.

Oh, wait, I meant to say I don't give a shit. |
I'm just saying that it will give them an edge on the 360 because Microsoft isn't marketing this just as a gaming machine, they're making it a media center for the living room.
And you "gamers" will care about it when that stupid little OS makes it alot easier to mod your PS3, and with the possiblity of no hardware hacks. Anyone who has ever modded a PS2 can get excited over that. Imagine swapping out the 20g add-on HD with a 240g, and running an app through the Linux shell that allows you to copy games and movies to your hard drive, much like you can do with the xbox now. I did this to my xbox, and it involved opening the box, installing, and installing/flashing/programming the chip. It took a while, but it was SO worth it. I'll never have to buy a game again. Now being able to do this by only running an app...damn, forget about it. |

Good for them. I don't mod my consoles, I don't care that it comes with something that will make modding or cracking possible, since both Sony and Microsoft have used techniques to nail the stupid fucks who mod their systems. HALO 2 anyone? |
Yeah why bother modding when Revolution will have basically Nintendo's entire library able to download and play, totally legally?
Revolution

Doesn't make them smart, but the issue isn't just running older games. |
I know, but I was referring mainly to the point of copying/emulating older titles. Still though, Revolution appears to be a gaming console as opposed to a media center, which is reason enough to get one for me.

Mods are quite fun really.. I have a friend who hard-modded his x-box for Halo. New maps and stuff was the main reason.. was pretty fun for big halo things. Also.. http://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/drool.gif at the program's background that it uses. I take it you already have the PS2 Linux kit then? |

My point is why limit yourself. |
Um...
Since piracy is the name of the day, anybody ever stop to wonder how incredibly pathetic it is to cheer at the fact that there's a one-hundred and twenty THIRD way to rip movies and music for free? I personally don't have need to mod my systems, I see no reason for the effort involved. I got friends who have a bunch of games hotwired in their XBox and PS2 memory cards and I can't help but think about how silly it's gotten. "Instead of buying a game like a normal person, I can just rip them on my system! I'm so cool!!!" No. You're not. There's gamers and there's no-life-game-freaks. I won't name names. Nuff said. And as far as modding, if it's a program the developer meant; and not some hack, I'm cool with it. But I understand that's mostly restricted to PC games. It's all fun and 'games' until developers and publishers alike do something to piss you guys off Metallica style. |

"I can rip things onto my PS3's hard drive!" "You mean just like I can do with my normal computer's hard drive?" "Yeah, but I spent hours modding my console to acheive the effect!" "You win, your way to acheive the same goal is clearly better." |
rofl.
People are still against piracy? Hilarious. Majority of people on this board pirate things online. http://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif |
