Interpol?
They are touring New Zealand soon, but I've never heard their shit. Worth buying a ticket? Yes/No?
Trendy people will say yes. I liked their first album until I realized they were total hacks and that their music sucks, and their second album was the same as the first, only not as good. I say fuck them but in the end you'll prolly go.
OK, not gonna go now.
Go because they are fantastic and my opinion is more important than Baio's.
I think they are awesome. Go see them.
John Baio hates most "trendy" music.
They are excellent.
Fantastic band.
Going to see them on Saturday. |
Lucky git diothoir. I really want to see them live.
I am going to Oxegen also diothoir. I will meet up with you for a fight. Bright Eyes is on a couple of acts before Interpol too.
Sounds like a good gig, who else is playing?
Weird that the Super Furry Animals are on a new bands stage.
Yeah I know, given they have about 9 albums out. It's basically a tent with bands that they know probably not many people will go to see. SFA are probably a name to draw them, that's all. Republic of Loose are a pretty good new Irish band.
Yeah that's a good point, get other people to that tent.
Wow that show looks incredible. Fucking Irish
Interpol were amazing. Best set of the whole weekend for me. I want to see them again, a bit longer next time.
Holy fuck that is a good lineup.
Interpol is a solid act, so I voted yes. Never seen them live, but I own "Antics" and was pretty impressed by it.
Turn On The Bright Lights is much, much better than Antics. Not that Antics is bad, the first album is just magnificent.
Can't emphasise how brilliant their set was on Saturday night. They were on at the same time as Green Day who were playing the main stage, but they drowned out all the sound coming from outside. The tent was packed and the whole crowd were massively into the set, so much so that I think everyone was blown away at the end, band included. They seemed genuinely appreciative of the reaction. |
I envy you, was listening to 'Turn On The Bright Lights' last night, I love roland.
The first 30 seconds of Turn On The Bright Lights is such a great opening to a CD.
I agree Supreme.

Just because something is trendy doesnt mean it blows. Go see them.

I took a while to get into Interpol because they are very derivative and there was a lot of hype surrounding them before their first album was even released. I only started listening to the albums properly about 2 or 3 months ago.
Other bands who were brilliant at Oxegen: Razorlight The Magic Numbers Super Furry Animals They stood out as great sets. Ian Brown, Death From Above 1979, The Dears, Rilo Kiley, Futureheads, Audioslave, Republic of Loose were all very good too. Bloc Party were terrible, mainly because their sound was fucked and only the rythm section was really audible. The guitars were completely inaudible and the vocals were far too low in volume, so that when the mindless fools sang along in the crowd, you couldn't actually hear them. Left after about 3 or 4 songs when it didn't get any better, and they started to have painful feedback noise. The lead singer also said "this is our first gig back in the UK" which utterly destroyed most of the goodwill from the crowd, seeing as it was in Ireland. Bright Eyes didn't show, but the Irish band who replaced the, 66e, were actually very, very good. |
All I remember about The Magic Numbers is that they had a rather ugly female bassist. At least I think that was them.
Rather silly of Bloc Party to make a mistake like that too. |
Yeah, that was silly and a shame for you that Bright Eyes never showed up.
Death From Above are awesome live, and great guys too. |
Not sure if Bright Eyes turned up at T In The Park either, they were certainly meant to be playing though.
Connor was proabably busy making himself beautiful.

I got a Death From Above t-shirt. It's beautiful.
My friend and I saw the guys from Death From Above in a gas station. They were really cool guys. Plus they are good at music.
That's funny, they told me you were a dick.
I’d tickets for Oxegen but sold them at the last minute to some bastard as I had to take a few lads down to the Tyrone game. Fucking shite weekend all ‘round.
Was looking forward to seeing Ian Brown now that he’s doing some Roses tunes during his sets. Ah well. |
When I spoke to Jesse from Death From Above he told he was goign to Disneyland after the gig :)
