NBA Offseason thread

Any off season stuff goes here.

Let me started off by saying WHAT THE FUCK NATE McMILLIAN YOU BITCH OUT OF ALL THE TEAMS WHY THE BLAZERS?! DAMNIT WALLY WALKER OR WHOEVER ELSE DIDN'T STEP UP AND SIGN THIS MAN, HE IS ONE HELL OF A COACH.

So who's gonna replace him now i think. At least they kept Ray :/

RoXer 07-07-2005 12:31 AM

I think D'Antoni's brother was a possibility.

RP 07-07-2005 01:16 AM

What retard wants to coach the Blazers?

MoRcHeEbA 07-07-2005 01:25 AM

Portland is a nice city :shifty:

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-07-2005 01:27 AM

Looks like Walker won't be staying in Boston. I don't know how to feel about that.

RP 07-07-2005 01:37 AM

Make's room for Green

BCWWF 07-07-2005 02:35 AM

Pretty stupid by McMillan, but obviously he knows something we don't.

Anyway, I think that kind of opens the door for Flip Saunders in Seattle maybe? It looks like Larry Brown may be back in Detroit now, and Milwaukee sucks, so I don't think Seattle would have much trouble signing him. It seems like he would be a better fit with Seattles team then he would with Detroits, but who knows?

Lotus 07-07-2005 04:35 AM

Portland isn't as bad as it used to be... attitude-wise. But talent-wise, it's probably the worst in the Western Conference, maybe barring the Hornets. But seriously, the Blazers need to get rid of Damon Stoudamire. All that guy does is jack up 3's and smoke weed.

BCWWF 07-07-2005 03:53 PM

Redd signs until 2011 with Milwaukee. I am glad, it would have been shitty if he just left the Bucks out to dry like that. Redd, TJ, Bogut, etc. have some potential.

Also, I think Damon is the shit. It probably would be good for the Blazers to move him right now, but I think he is a very good pg.

MoRcHeEbA 07-07-2005 04:45 PM

I can think of 12 million more reasons McMillen went to portland over Seattle.

Crimson 07-08-2005 12:27 AM

Ultimatley Portland pays him some nice cash, but it was more than that. It goes back to the regular season when Seattle didn't sign him. They made him an offer and it was just there, the Blazers came by and showed him love, respect, and the dough..so most men enjoy a nice ego stroke and he took the bait.

BCWWF 07-08-2005 02:44 AM

Well the Bucks seem to have signed a coach, nobody knows what the Pistons are doing, it looks like Larry Brown wants to come back but they might not want him. I haven't heard anything about who the Sonics go after now really, but it seems like maybe Saunders could end up there now.

CNM 07-08-2005 03:09 AM

I've heard Terry Porter or Marc Iavoroni, the Suns assistant, could end up in Seattle.

CNM 07-08-2005 03:13 AM

Nbadraft.net is reporting that the Cavs have agreed to a contract with Larry Hughes that averages $12 million a year.

Larry Hughes to Cleveland

Some people will probably knock this signing. Probably will tell you its for way too much. I understand the disbelief , but if you've watched Hughes over the last couple of years. He's really matured and developed one of the best man on man defense's in the league. He's got the offensive skill to score 20. I think this is a better pick up then Redd. Redd wasnt great defensively and how would they have gotten Redd enough looks with Ilgalskus and James in there. They needed a Scottie Pippen ( he's no Danny Granger ;) ) type guy who could compliment James. This is great for Cleveland. I see big things from them next year.

BCWWF 07-08-2005 04:06 PM

I think Hughes is a good fit in Cleveland as well, but I'm kind of disappointed that Washington's year of revival is basically gone now.

The Outlaw 07-08-2005 06:07 PM

Yeah Hughes is pretty overlooked. Obviously not anymore, 12 mil a year is pretty steep.

PureHatred 07-08-2005 08:12 PM

I would've signed Hughes over any guard this offseason. He's much younger than Allen and he can lock down three positions. He had a breakout year for the Wiz and theres not going to be anybody that will be able to match up size-wise with the Cavs backcourt next season.

BCWWF 07-08-2005 09:07 PM

How tall is Hughes? I always thought he was pretty short

6'5" which is average. But his wingspan is ridiculous which is why he and Arenas were such a match-up problem.

BCWWF 07-08-2005 09:58 PM

Yeah I remember last season like Hughes was the SG but had more assists and Arenas had more points or something.

Lotus 07-09-2005 02:13 AM

Hughes has one good year and all of a sudden he's worth $12 mil? Dude didn't do shit for the Warriors, and I guarantee you he won't be putting up good numbers in Cleveland.

BCWWF 07-09-2005 03:18 AM

He was better then average in his time at Washington

CNM 07-09-2005 03:53 AM

I don't understand the Hughes move. The Cavs needed a great shooter (Ray Allen or Michael Redd would have been perfect) and Hughes can't shoot worth a shit. They should have gone after Bobby Simmons or Cuttino Mobley.

BCWWF 07-09-2005 10:49 AM

They should have gone with Wally Szczerbiak in a sign and trade deal involving Z

BCWWF 07-09-2005 10:59 AM

It looks as if Q might not be staying in New York very long. Apparently the Knicks are pretty interested in Kwame Brown but the only way they could get him is by trading Q.

It seems fitting that the Knicks would go after the biggest choke in the league.

RP 07-09-2005 12:20 PM

I dont know what Kwame Brown's problem is , but i still think he might be good. He's young and he has talent. He needs to put his head back together . Unfortunatley, having Isiah Thomas any were near him is going to suck cock, because Isiah Thomas infact sucks cock.

The Outlaw 07-09-2005 02:38 PM

LOL Kwame Brown

Kid Robb 07-09-2005 10:39 PM

Larry Hughes is alright as long as they keep Z. If he goes and they get no big man for him then they'll still be just average.

Who's the worse no 1 pick, Kwame Brown or Michael Olowokandi? That's one of the hardest questions you can ever be asked.

BCWWF 07-10-2005 12:43 AM

Olowokandi, because there is still, somewhere out there, hope.

That's actually an incredibly easy question. The Wiz took Brown in a draft where HSers were so prevalent that the guys they passed up in the lottery -Chandler, Curry, Gasol- are still basically projects. The most successful players from that draft -Arenas and Richard Jefferson - weren't even blips on the radar screen going into the lottery.

As for Kandi: The Clips passed up Mike Bibby, Jamison, Vince Carter, Dirk Diggler, Paul Pierce, Larry Hughes, and Bonzi Wells in the first 11 picks alone. Kandi was the worse pick of the two, the worst pick in Clippers history (saying a lot) and possibly the worst #1 Pick ever.

He's only 26. He's actually coming off two very good season in Washington. And the one half season he was in GS where he wasn't hurt, he averaged 22, 6 , and 5 with 3 steals. If you watched the playoff at all last season you would've seen how he drives teams nuts. So, yes, in a league whre rafer Alston is worth $6 mil a year, Hughes is easily worth 12.

The comments soemone else made about his perimeter shooting are valid, but the Cavs aren't done. Even if they sign Z for the max, they'll be $12-15 million under the cap.

BCWWF 07-10-2005 05:28 PM

It looks like the Cavs are going to try to get Udonis Haslem now. Thats exactly what I predicted and I don't think the Heat will do too much to keep him. He had a pretty good season playing with Shaq, now another team overpays for him and he falls back down to earth.

Anyway, the latest rumors around the Minnesota camp is that we are going to get Stephon Marbury back. What its based around is that the Knicks apparently to move him too, so Crawford can go to point guard. They would trade Marbury for Wally and Cassell (their salaries match up).

I guess the trade makes sense for both teams in a way, the Knicks just spread around their SG's. Cut Houston, trade Q for Kwame, put Crawford at PG, put Wally at SG then. The Wolves really just need a dynamic point guard, and although I don't really like Marbury, he could be the best option. Wally has been linked to the Knicks for years also.

We'll see.

BCWWF 07-10-2005 05:42 PM

It looks like Antoine Walker could be going to the Kings now. I don't get why Boston wants to dismantle their team right now. When they originally had Pierce and Walker they were a top team in the East, they got them back together last year and they were pretty damn good again, so why let go of both of them?

PureHatred 07-10-2005 06:01 PM

They're old. C's are building around the kids. They know that they're not winning a title with Pierce and 'Toine, so they'll take a step back in the hopes that Al Jefferson, Perkins, Allen, Banks, West, and now Gerald Green will be the nucleus of a title team. Shockingly, a smart move by Ainge.

BCWWF 07-10-2005 07:23 PM

I actually do like Antoine going to the Kings though. I was hoping the Kings were finally done for a while, but if they get Antoine it pretty much replaces C-Webb and they will be a playoff team for sure...again.

CNM 07-11-2005 02:49 AM

'Toine will get his new contract and then go back to camping out on the perimeter and jacking up threes.

RP 07-11-2005 06:39 AM

Jamal Crawford at PG

Lets go ahead and and pick up Mark Madsen, or no!. Trade for Brian Cardinal and put him at center!

Isiah Thomas is taking the Knicks down to the armpits of hell. I'm laughing histerically right now.

RP 07-11-2005 06:40 AM

Antoine Walker and Peja standing out side the perimeter waiting for someone to pass the ball. While Biby is getting locked down and Miller is being fronted. Kings will only win 30 games next year.

RP 07-11-2005 06:48 AM

Celtic fans should rejoice if they get rid of 'Toine. Jefferson was great against O'neal in the playoffs. Green looks like he can come in and make a huge impact with his athletisism. Allen , West , and Banks are solid. Ryan Gomes is a polished college player with a good rep and dencet body. Pretty good skills.

'Toine should just go honestly. If you trade Pearce tho. They are really stupid. Unless it was for someone like Ron Artest ( Seriously ) . A player that can defend and lock down and score. Maybe Tayshawn Prince in a package, Nowitski for Pearce and another? Or maybe straight up? I dont know, but no one is going to give these players up . I cant see Pearce being traded. I think Pearce is one of the few players in the game that can absolutely take over a game to the point where you actually notice it and cant help but be marvaled. If he could defend a little better. Pearce's stock roof, but he doesnt have to be traded. They should just keep him. He's a great player.
