The Miz...

Whatever happened to Jay Buhner? I used to think he was the man back when I was younger. Then some Jap fuck took his spot and he disappeared off of the face of the earth. Is he broadcasting or coaching or anything?

The Miz 07-11-2005 05:51 PM

He retired in 2001, way too many injuries. Missed over 350 games his last 4 years. He was the fucking man though, 3 straight 40 homer seasons and always was clutch in the playoffs. He's not broadcasting or anything to my knowledge.

They used to have a promotion at the Kingdome where you got in free if you shaved your head like Buhner. I never did it but it made me realize how gross bald chicks are.

Buhner is awesome though. 3rd favorite M of all time.

And don't talk shit about Ichiro. He is the man.

The Miz 07-11-2005 05:56 PM

Also I caught 2 of his home run balls and got one of them signed

He was awesome. I miss him. His stance was badass too.

The Outlaw 07-11-2005 11:15 PM

He was a lot cooler with the M's. :(

I'm a huge Cubs fan , but i used to love the Mariners. ( I still love Ichiro ). They were loaded. Honestly , I look back and i cant figure how they never even went to the Series . I mean Buhner, Edgar, Griffey, A-rod, Johnson. I was a huge Griffey fan. Still am.

Buhner was great. Remember that catch he made at Fenway.

RP 07-12-2005 04:11 AM

Griffey's catches in his early years were God like.

The best is how Seattle lost two of the top players in baseball and arguably the best pitcher at the time and came back to win 116 games in 2001. I swear it was all McLemore.

his "wall-walker" catch years ago. best grab in baseball history IMO.

RoXer 07-12-2005 11:57 AM

In the 90's, I was a huge M's fan, even though I lived in Bay Area.

McLemore was good off the bench but he wasn't the key to that team. We were solid in every aspect of the game, there were no holes on that team. We had 3 guys have career years (Ichiro, Boone, Cameron), we had power guys (Boone, Cameron, Edgar, Olerud), speed guys (Ichiro, Cameron, Mac, Javier), gold glovers (Olerud, Guillen, Boone, Ichiro) and the thing that all the Junior/Arod/Unit teams lacked was 5 reliable starters. Whether it was Sele, Moyer, Garcia, Halama, Abbot (or even Piniero for a little while) we were put in a position to win. The 2001 Mariners came to play every day, they never took games off. 81 out of 81 times they played at home that year they gave us a reason to watch which is why they're my favorite team of all time

Pitching. Yup, that was/is/always will be the key.

They have Buhner on M's games from time to time as a guest. From what I understand he still lives in the Seattle area and remains an active member of the community.

The Bone.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-22-2005 01:48 AM

Yeah I kinda like the M's just because of Griff. He was the fuckin man back in the day. Kinda lost it for me when he went to Cinncy tho
