I've heard the term "heel" used a lot in old movies and sitcoms (the only one I can think of off the top of my head is an episode of the Flintstones) to describe guys who act like jerks. It wasn't a term invented by the wrestling industry, but it's fallen out of common usage everywhere else.

And I should clear up my opinion on what a heel is and what a face is. I agreed with whoever said a heel is lowly and etc. and a face is loveable and etc. but at the same time, to Bixente, a heel is generally booed by most people, even if liked by few, he's still a heel. A face may be hated by few, but he's still a face because of how much he's usually looked at as a hero or how cheered he is by the live crowds.
