I was just wondering why he isn't wearing them anymore?

Eddie stole them

He stopped getting them because Eddie was his real optometrist.

He has a glass eye now and different colored glass eyes cost too much, so he keeps them their natural color to match.

This is what I was thinking. Rey looks more 'human' and easier to empathize with without the contacts.

rey rey fears that with his contacts on his son dominic wont recognize him and eddie would capitalize of the opportunity. so he does not wear the contacts and shows dominic his real eyes.
