Apologies to Bret?

As most of you probably know, Bret Hart was recently on "Between the Ropes." What he was basically saying about a return, I think, was that he wants an apology from Vince.

Do you think Bret is asking too much? Do you think Vince would ever apologize? Post your thoughts.

SuperSlim 08-02-2005 01:39 PM

no and yes

Shaggy 08-02-2005 01:54 PM

I dont think he is asking for to much. I mean its not like hes asking for a return and to hold the belt right away. He just wants an apology from McMahon for screwing him in that final match. Id ask for the same.

Do I think Vince will apologize?...If Vince wants Bret to return to hype the DVD then yes he will. As he said before he does things that are good business decisions. Bringing Bret back to hype the dvd is a good decision and if that means Vince has to say he is sorry then Im thinking he will do it.

The One 08-02-2005 02:35 PM

Vince might say it, but I doubt he means it.

In retrospect screwing Bret was one of the best business moves Vince ever made, how else could you take a fan favorite announcer, owner of (at that time) a thrid generation family owned promotion, and turn him into the biggest heel and jackass just in time to go toe to toe with the biggest anti-athority face ever? He created Mr. McMahon when he screwed Bret, and I am sure not a day goes by were Vince isn't happy about how that all played out, hell he is STILL reeping the benefits.

I think the closest Bret will get to a legit apology is Vince saying he is sorry for how things ended up playing out for him. But a full blown sincer "I'm sorry." I doubt it.

Chavo Classic 08-02-2005 04:32 PM

Vince has a lot of self-respect, but don't think for a second there's nothing he wouldn't to help his business.

When it comes to the future of his product then Vince would whore out just about anything. His daughter, his son, his wife, and his own ass (anyone remember the Kiss My Ass club?)

So, like The One said, he would say 'I'm sorry' if it meant getting Brett back. But even if he went down to the middle of the ring, get down on his knees and even beg him to come back if it meant more viewers and more revenue - he wouldn't mean it. He'd be doing what was best for his business.

Anybody Thrilla 08-02-2005 04:35 PM

I dunno about Bret, but words as apologies mean very little to me. I accept my apologies in monetary donations.

MandyCandy 08-02-2005 04:37 PM

Vince better apologies to Bret! Hart gave the best years of his life to Vince's company, he sacrificed family time, years on the road, his body, and is soul to make Vince a few more dollars. Bret even stuck by Vince long after WCW had offered him more money! All Bret wanted was a chance to leave his country the champion, and Vince screwed him! Hell yeah he should say "I'm sorry" for dicking over the man who basically kept his failing company afloat for years.

Vince screwed Bret. Bret got pissed. Vince took it out on Owen. Owen dies doing a gimmick he would never had been doing had Vince not been a fucking baby.

Yeah I think an apology, a sincere apology wouldn't go a miss.

Self-respect? Have you seen what he does on TV and with his family (including looking at your own daughters tits)?

Innovator 08-02-2005 07:24 PM

The apology would be as sincere as Raven's in ECW.

are you actually blaming vince mcmahon had orchestrated the owen hart tragedy? come on dude. I think they are two of the biggest hard headed people on earth. Both wants the other to take the first step. Its that simple. Bret NEEDS to be inducted in to the HAF someday, I would love to see THEM come to an understanding. Who says it, in my mind doesn't matter

I reckon Vince should apologise on a personal level, but on a business level you can't argue that's one of the best things he's ever done.

I'm sorry, Bret was a fantastic performer, but he did not keep that company afloat during that time period. He always put on the best match of the night (or, on occasion, HBK or Owen would do it), but Bret didn't carry the company. I have no idea what did, but during the nether days of the WrestleCrap Era, I can guarantee it wasn't a pure grappler with old-school mic skills.

Well I did say partly true, meaning without him, at a time of very few credible main eventers, in fact, at a time when there were very few credible wrestlers, the wwe would have been in dire straights. Would they have survived without him? Yeah sure, I think so, the company and Vince would have done something to make sure of that, but the ratings seriously would have tanked. Without him and HBK, along with perhaps Bulldog, Taker and Owen..Razor for the time he was there..they had nothing else but crap gimmicks and awful wrestlers. Finally Vince wisened up and dumped the gimmicky wrestlers, while allowing more realistic angles to take place.
Vince, without doing that, would have drowned his own company, but losing any of his top stars at that time would have left them without a paddle.

loopydate 08-03-2005 01:05 AM

Agreed. I was just laughing at the fact that there are people who are so blinded by their Hart markdom (and subsequent loathing of McMahon) that they have themselves convinced that, without Bret, WWF would have folded in the early-to-mid-'90s.

Kris P Lettus 08-03-2005 01:07 AM

If he comes back, I hope he gets kicked in the head again...

Vince put Owen in a stupid gimmick because Owen wouldn't do saucy angles with Debra McMichael. He was put with her after he lied about pushing Owen to get him back after Montreal. It was his responsibility to look after his employees as the chairman of the company. He has taken ZERO blame for it. I think that sucks.

Actually, he did. Diesel, Sid and Shawn Michaels did horrible buisness when they were champs. Hence why they ALWAYS went back to Bret Hart. European tours kept the WWF afloat during the mid 90's and Bret Hart was the number one draw one all of them (Davey Boy Smith didn't have the same drawing power when he came back and Bret Hart was already the top man).

Loose Cannon 08-03-2005 10:01 PM

I see Rob has taken care of business in here.

good, I don't have to argue now.

vampiro03 08-03-2005 10:07 PM

rob only has one more for 15,000 wow.

MandyCandy 08-03-2005 10:16 PM

Maybe I mis-spoke about the keeping WWE afloat, how about this, Bret Hart saved the McMahon check book from using up their red pens.

And Bret also made Austin, in that match at WM 13.

Well, it was just something that a lot of people everywhere caught notice of: Vince ogling Steph's tits. I think it was while helping into/out of a limousine or something.
