The Official Firepro R thread.... Wait, not that anyone cares.

http://www.spike.co.jp/fr/index.html

Go to the link bitches....

Anyway, I don't know who actually cares about the game, but I do, so screw you guys. Also, the 4th link from the left on the top bar (including home) has some clips of moves in the game... Looks like Spike is actually busting their ass after the whole Firepro Z letdown.

SukkaChump 08-08-2005 06:38 AM

dude, that looks fucking awesome, i'd hope for a US release, but i'm never gonna get it, i love that whole series

What Would Kevin Do? 08-08-2005 07:26 AM

That's why I love my Japanese ps2

mitch_h 08-08-2005 09:49 AM

Okay, so I want this game really bad, but I don't really know anything about it. When is the release date? Pardonmy ignorance byt do you need a japanese version of the PS2 to play it, or could I order some sort of import.

Xero 08-08-2005 05:21 PM

Man I wish I could play that. :(

Fignuts 08-08-2005 05:25 PM

I already made a thread on this. Nobody cared.

OssMan 08-08-2005 07:03 PM

En garde... I'll let you try my Wu-Tang style.

DeadMan90 08-09-2005 02:01 AM

Wow, and here I thought that Firepro Z was going to be the last Firepro in the series...

Pardon my ignorance, but I haven't completely looked into all the options for import games on my PS2. The main question I have is that I was wondering if there was a boot disc to play foreign games not unlike the one that I have for my Dreamcast to play Firepro D? I mean, I'd like to have an option like that rather than just out and out modding my PS2 to play one foreign game, even if it's one that I know I'd enjoy.

If anyone could help answer my question, thank you ahead of time.

Whoops... My bad... But hey, I gave a website... Yeah....

It was just pushed back, so it's coming out in November (Japan only, you have to import.)

TO play imports are your PS2, the best option will probably be a fliptop. You can do a search online for info. Basically , it's a different top to the PS2, sort of like the original PS, and you can basically swap the disks once it starts to load....

There is a forced swap method that I wouldn't advise.. It basically consists or pulling open the slide and swapping... It can easily fuck up your shit...

Then there are mod chips.... Do searches

Now if you have one of the new PS2s, I don't know... They already have a flip top on them. That may make it easier, I don't know...

My advice is check out gamefaqs for info, or just do searches online... I have a legit Japanese ps2 that is slightly modded to play burns.... So I really don't know much about what ya need.

Also, the edit mode looks bad ass. Looks like for once you can actually edit the premade faces.. YAY!!! And a legit cage match..

Hmmmm.

Jonster 08-09-2005 06:55 AM

Clicking that link doesn't work.

What Would Kevin Do? 08-09-2005 07:21 AM

Huh, WTF?

What Would Kevin Do? 08-09-2005 07:24 AM

Try again.

Fignuts 08-09-2005 03:35 PM

Legit cage match, The usual exploding deathmatch, barbwire deathmatch, and all new land mine match.

Xero 08-09-2005 04:28 PM

I'm not 100% positive on this, but I believe that the Gameshark or the Action Replay or an add on to one of those can be used to play imports.

DeadMan90 08-09-2005 05:44 PM

Excellent, because if that is the case, this game is as good as bought.

Xero 08-10-2005 08:09 AM

Shit, I'm wrong. I could have sworn that it was for games, but it's for DVDs.

You can use an AR-Max to play imports too.

I think.

I really should read threads before I post in them.,

CYCLOPTERSAURUS 08-24-2005 05:26 PM

Delayed? damnit. I was really looking forward to this.

Anyhow, Firepro is the best wrestling game series ever IMO, I STILL play Firepro D on a regular basis. Freaking awesome. I can't wait for R.

As far as modding your PS2, a friend of mine had the top of his PS2 removed and replaced with one with a big Z on the top, that you can open up like you could the PS1 (from the top). Put in a boot up disc, then open it from the top, and put in the game.

What Would Kevin Do? 09-11-2005 04:50 AM

Delayed? What? It comes out on the 15th. I just ordered it off play asia.. WHOOO!

Fignuts 09-13-2005 12:06 PM

Gamefaqs boards have a lot of info up already.

4 costumes/ 1 moveset per edit slot. (Possibly the best news to come out so far.)
There is an american fed, but the only new wrestlers from Z are A.J. Styles, Pete Williams, and two as of yet unidentified wrestlers. American Dragon is in New Japan(gee!) and Lo-ki is in Zero-One Max.

A lot of independant wrestlers from Michinoku, Osaka, DDT, Dragon Gate, and Big Japan.

More info to come.

mitch_h 09-13-2005 05:03 PM

Whoooo Bryan Danielson! I need this game!

Fignuts 09-18-2005 02:59 AM

Bumping this, as I just got it.

Will fill you in on details when I get a chance to really dive in

What Would Kevin Do? 09-18-2005 08:02 AM

DAMN YOU!

I was hoping to get mine today, but I didn't

Mine should probably come monday or Tuesday.

Fignuts 09-19-2005 11:36 AM

This game is amazing. Not only are there 8-man survivor series style cage matches, but you can do them in the cage, and deathmatches as well.

Menus for edit mode have been completly changed.

Kapoutman 09-20-2005 12:14 AM

WHAT THE HELL. That roster is huge. How come we don't get anything like that in America?

Vietnamese Crippler 09-20-2005 12:23 AM

But you don't live in America

Vietnamese Crippler 09-20-2005 12:24 AM

And because wrestling isn't as huge here as it is in Japan? :-\

What Would Kevin Do? 09-20-2005 12:30 AM

Oh, and Kapoutman, just to rub it in.

500 slots to make created wrestlers and managers. The ability to make and customize referees. Make and change logos, create feds, and design rings.... Yeah, this game is the shit.

Loose Cannon 09-20-2005 12:47 AM

what system and where do I find this for purchase?

What Would Kevin Do? 09-20-2005 12:50 AM

It's ps2, but you need a ps2 that can play Japanese games (IE, Japanese, fliptop modded, etc.)

I ordered mine off http://www.play-asia.com

Loose Cannon 09-20-2005 12:51 AM

hmmm, my brother has a PS2, but I don't know if it can play Japanese games. Is there like a site in English where I can check this game out?

What Would Kevin Do? 09-20-2005 12:51 AM

Also, I think someone in the WWE needs to start using the John Woo, and the head in tights piledriver :)

Holy shit @ all those American guys. I've never played a Firepro before, but it seems to have a cult following from what I've read over the years.
