Edge

Im curious as to if Edge will be in the rumble. Ive seen the rumours about HHH vs. Edge but i was wondering if anything new has been found out about Edge.

loopydate 01-19-2004 11:39 PM

I think he's not even cleared to be taking bumps for another month or so.

AareDub 01-19-2004 11:40 PM

I think he's still set for a "night after Mania" return.

The Show Off 01-19-2004 11:43 PM

I was hoping to see Edge at Wrestlemania, but knowing that Edge's return is under 3 months away is a great thing to know.

The CyNick 01-20-2004 12:01 AM

There are no Edge vs HHH plans.

There may heve been at some point, but as of now the plan is HHH vs Benoit.

I know for a fact Edge wont be in the Rumble, and at this point he's at most 50-50 for Mania, last thing I heard they were leaning towards keeping him off TV until after Mania, which makes sense. Mania is going to be packed, he will get lost in the shuffle, they might as well wait till after Mania to re-introduce wherever he ends up (RAW or SD). In fact it would be better for storyline purposes if they reveal who took him out, that because of their actions Edge missed the "biggest show of all time". Thats a good reason to seek out revenge on someone.

^ Good idea. Heck, have it be Rhyno so that he can get his career back.

Then again, Edge would prolly bury Rhyno... :(

But yeah, Edge won't be back until April, basically.

Boondock Saint 01-20-2004 12:52 AM

Is Rhyno even in the Rumble? That would be quite sad if he isn't. But one more Smackdown to go.

Since he's playing Heyman's enforcer, I think he's a lock to be in the match. My guess is that Heyman will tell Rhyno its his job to make sure Cena doesn't win the match. Show, Morgan and Train will probably be in charge of taking out Benoit.

KingofOldSchool 01-20-2004 06:09 PM

Rhyno needs to be fired just like 95% of the other ECW rejects.

Triple H > 95% of ECW's roster.

While that's probably true, if we were firing everyone who's less talented than one of the better technicians (when he wants to be) in the world, the WWE roster would have nine members.

Did I say that they should fire everyone who isn't a better wrestler than Triple H?

No.

I just said they should fire the majority of the ECW guys that are left sans RVD, The Dudleys, and Lance Storm.

loopydate 01-20-2004 06:32 PM

Personally, I'd keep Rhyno over the Dudleys. The Dudleys are stale as hell, but Rhyno could be very entertaining. I'd also keep Tajiri, Al Snow, Steven Richards, and Nunzio before the Dudleys.

Why Rvd? He still puts on a kick ass performance and is still way over with the crowd> Lance storm is a very good wrestler He just needs a Fair shot He needs A better gimmick than this dance crap. Dudleys are just getting stale but are still a good ECW team. Tommy dreamer , Spike and Rhyno need there gimmicks back to get over....What about Tajiri? Hes stilll putting on great performances...whats next get rid of the wcw roster as well?

It's a good thing you're still here, or else who'd satisfy our sexymanalive fix?

Anyway, I'm an Edge mark, just because I like the guy. I can't realy list any reasons other than the normal generic ones, but he's just likeable. He may not be the most technically sound, or the best high flyer, or the fastest guy, but he's entertaining.

Fox 01-20-2004 09:13 PM

Personally, I don't see why there's such a big fuss over Edge. Sure, he and Christian were one of the best tag teams in the WWE, but as a singles wrestler he hasn't proven anything to me. Has he even had a 5 star singles match before? I can't think of one off the top of my head. The guy is good, and it's nice to see him return, but not nice in the same sense as "Kurt-Angle-returning" nice.

Edge vs. Angle were pretty good matches Edge was starting to get his push right before is injury if i remember correctly he had a couple #1 contender matches and 1 or 2 world title shots right before he left.

loopydate 01-20-2004 09:25 PM

I think the fuss has more to do with his potential. He has near-infinite charisma and has shown in flashes that he can work beyond spotfests. If he can stay healthy after his return, he may be able to prove himself as a main-eventer.

natureboycv 01-20-2004 09:35 PM

If you remember on Raw, when they were showing RR matches, they showed everyone in the RR, Edge definitely wasn't on there, but he's not coming back until Wrestlemania or later, anyway.

He could even if he doesn't stay healthy.

An inside source at the WWE sent me a WWE promotional handbill that refers to Edge as "The Next Kevin Nash."

Meaning, Edge is the next guy to break a bone every time he steps through the ropes, or the next guy to win the WWE Title before becoming a washed up nobody with gay, blonde, crew cut, G.I. Joe hair?
