Gimmick matches you want to see in WWE (that rhymes)

I have always thought a good gimmick match in WWE if they did it with the right guys would be a No Holds Barred match.

No, I don't mean that shit they are going to do with JBL and Batista. I mean a no holds barred match, with the key word being holds. Not a hardcore or no-dq match, which is all no holds barred matchs have become, but like a match were we are promised to see dangerous wrestling moves like pile drivers, brain busters, and a whole slew of suplexes.

I would set it up in mid fued with a guy like Jericho vs. a guy like Cena. Jericho gets in Bischoff's ear that he should get a second title shot against Cena, but he needs the perfect stipulations to beat Cena. Bischoff wants to know what they are, Jericho says he is still working that out. Later that night Cena (in the ring) is pissed and wants to know what these stipulations are. Jericho (on stage) says he figured it out, and announce a no holds barred match. Cena pretends to act scared and then says all cocky like he isn't afraid of steel chairs and trash cans, so bring it on.

Jericho is like no ass clown, I mean no holds barred. Jericho then produce the WWE rule book (much like how he did with the WCW one) and flips to a section that comments on moves that have been banned in WWE and names off a few. Jericho then goes on to say forqien objects are still illegal and it is otherwise a striaght wrestling match. Cena looks confused, even slightly scare realizing Jericho is the man of 1003 holds while Cena knows about 10. JR then explains the implecations of such a match to the boys and girls at home in such a voice that one would think an atomic bomb was in the hands of Osama bin Laden. Jericho then swaggers off smiling to himself while John Cena is left alone in ring trying to figure out what to do.

Now this could work equal as well with Beniot, Angle, Eddie, or Tajiri in Jerichos place against pretty much anyone else in Cena's place.

Or make it really interesting and book that angle and match with like Jericho vs. Angle or something like.

jk, it was red :( It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to change the color when you post a rep

Corndad 08-12-2005 01:34 AM

Ill Third on the War Games. I loved that and thought maybe even when they were doing the Invasion angle a few years back might have used it but never did. Also, they just used it in January I know but some time in next few monthes like to see an Elimation Chamber match, make it an annual sort of thing.

 , hey BDC you could give ferret's green dot to me :naughty:

Fox 08-12-2005 02:09 AM

I want to say Ultimate X, but because it's an X-Division match and the WWE would be blatantly stealing it, not to mention I don't think there's anyone in the WWE capable of pulling it off, I'm going to not say it.

I will say I want to see more hardcore matches. I don't mean the bullshit hardcore that WWE's hardcore division became in it's dying years, but an ECW type hardcore match, where the weapons are implemented to improve regular moves (i.e. Van Damintor, surf board chair drop, table spots) instead of become the match itself.

Nervous Ferret 08-12-2005 02:10 AM

lol what are you talking about

Nervous Ferret 08-12-2005 02:10 AM

oh yeah, the topic at hand

Mr. Nerfect 08-12-2005 06:51 AM

Holy fuck! I had an orgasm reading BDC's idea for a No Holds Barred Match. It would be so awesome to see Jericho cut promos on Cena, semi-shooting on how he's a crap wrestler and only wins because he is a thug. A Chris Jericho match analysis of a John Cena match, counting his illegal moves (punches included) would be all kinds of awesomeness, and it would really make it see like Jericho has found Cena's weak spot.

Then, because Cena isn't completely incompotent in the the ring, he could bust out some high-impact and technical moves with Jericho at Unforgiven, where either he goes over with a Death Valley Driver (or an F-U off the top rope), or he loses to the Liontamer (the old school version).

You can then turn the No Holds Barred Match into a legit gimmick match, seperating it from the No DQ, Hardcore and Street Fight Matches.

Impact! 08-12-2005 07:57 AM

Yeah if the WWE could come up with a storyline like that it'd be a miracle.

Chavo Classic 08-12-2005 08:58 AM

The disqualification-means-loss stipulation from the main event of Fully Loaded 2000 was genius. Basically, if Rock was disqualified from the match against Benoit not only would he lose the match, but he would lose the title. The storyline was that as commissioner, Foley was so concerned that the Rock and Benoit just wanted to beat the hell out of each other that he enforced this law.

It was a masterstroke, and opened up new avenues for screwjobs. For example, Benoit pretending that the Rock had hit him with a chair and forcing Hebner to dq him. What an ultimate heel tactic!

This should be used more often. Perhaps not for the JBL and Batista match at Summerslam, because it'd mean having to watch the pair actually pull off a strong technical match - which would be appauling.

Afterlife 08-12-2005 09:03 AM

I'd like to see a barbed wire ropes match. And I was bitching about the term "No Holds Barred" to Joey the day they announced, but that led to him asking for the difference between a Street Fight and a Hardcore match. Sadly, I had no answer.

Chavo Classic 08-12-2005 09:20 AM

Lets check Chavo's wrestling dictionary.

Hardcore match (Hard'kor mat'ch) -noun-

1. Bout involving a Mississippi river, a stop sign, an Al Snow, a trash can and an apthetic audience.

Street Fight - (St-reet fiy-t) -noun-

1. An intense wrestling bout between two more experienced grapplers
2. How to end a Triple H feud.

Sadistic 08-12-2005 10:11 AM

No-rope barbed wire.

Chavo Classic 08-12-2005 10:13 AM

A cruiserweight match without interuptions.

James Steele 08-12-2005 10:22 AM

For the Sadistics of the world, A BARBWIRE FLAMING HELL IN A CELL TLC HARDCORE HELL TAIPEI BROKEN GLASS IRONFIST UTLIMATE DEATHMATCH!!!!!!!!!

James Steele 08-12-2005 10:24 AM

THATS EXTREEEEEEEEEEME!!!!!!!!!1

Vastardikai 08-12-2005 11:44 AM

I'd like to see another Judy Bagwell on a Pole Match? :shifty:

Chavo Classic 08-12-2005 01:27 PM

or Rob Conway's mum on a pole match... it's basically the same thing

Vastardikai 08-12-2005 01:30 PM

How about a survivor series match featuring the team of Rob Conway, Tatanka, "Real Man's Man" Steve Regal, "Captain" Mike Rotunda, and the returning Rico (he was a Las Vegas Cop, after all...)?

Chavo Classic 08-12-2005 01:36 PM

What would that accomplish?

Vastardikai 08-12-2005 01:39 PM

Well, we'd have a leather guy, an indian, a Construction Worker, a Sailor, and a Cop...

:shifty:

Chavo Classic 08-12-2005 01:41 PM

That's fantastic!

Rep for you, sir :y:

Crashnburn 08-12-2005 02:24 PM

I would want to see something new. I'm not saying it would have to be "5 flaming cages of death match" or anything like that. I would just like to see a new kind of match. It just feels to me that WWE keeps pulling out the same matches over and over.

Chavo Classic 08-12-2005 02:30 PM

I'd like to see a Cage Match but with two beams crossing over the top of the cage pretty much like an Ultimate X match. It'd be great for allowing the more agile wrestlers such as Eddie and Rey more opportunities for mind blowing moves and spots. Also, not a bad way to finish their particular feud off.
