Is there anyway to reastore the default spell/grammar check settings in MS Word?

My niece was messing around on my computer, and Microsoft Word now has the grammar and spelling of a retarded chimp. So if someone knows how to restore the default settings, I will be most grateful.

a bit more info would be apreciated..
what version of word are you using?
what exactly does "grammar and spelling of a retarded chimp" mean?
because usually Word will use the language settings used on your OS as a whole, so if Word is in spanish, the rest or your comp should be as well.
I could tell you how to change your language settings, but I dont think thats the problem and you didnt state your OS anyway so I cant be specific.

OS: Windows XP Professional

Word: Microsoft Word 2000 (came as a part of Office 2000 Professional)

Language setting: English (American)

What I mean by "spelling and grammar of a retarded chimp" is that when my niece was using the spell/grammar check, she wasn't correcting the mistakes, she was adding them. So now mispelled words are considered properly spelled and it tries to correct good grammar (putting 5 spaces between words instead of 1, changing complete sentences into fragments, etc).

Help me, please! :'(

Un-install/re-install office again? Or what you can do is in Microsoft Word i think like on the last tap or something you there is an option called " repair" so maybe you can just "repair" microsoft word and all the settings will go backto default? Not in word right now so i forgot what tab its under but i am pretty sure its the last one to the right.

Isn't there a .dic file that you can edit to remove added words in notepad?

Yeah, Funk, if you go under the "Help" tab, there is a thing called "Detect & Repair." If you click that a box will come up, and there are 2 check boxes... click the 2nd one and "start"...and then rep me good for helping you out
