HBK and HHH on CM Punk

Credit: WX

CM Punk was trashed backstage recently by Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Michael Hayes after watching one of his matches. The main thing they put against him was that they thought he didn’t know how to get over, and that he wrestlers like he’s doing a simulated wrestling match, not working a wrestling match.

Due to Paul Heyman’s liking for him, it was first thought that he would do OK backstage in WWE. However, with Paul Heyman’s pull in WWE decreasing at the hands of Stephanie McMahon, this may not help him as much as people once thought.

Some backstage observers claim that no matter what Punk did in the ring, they still would have been down on him. Simply because he’s an unknown who isn’t physically impressive and doesn’t have a gimmick that he can use to get over yet.

Ah well he's got a life of midcard hell to look forward to.

Nark Order 09-19-2005 04:08 PM

If that.

Loose Cannon 09-19-2005 04:16 PM

The WWE wishes CM Punk the best in his future endeavors.

thecc 09-19-2005 04:22 PM

That is the biggest load of crap. Cm punk is one of the best at working the crowd, not only with his matches but his promos as well.

Shadow 09-19-2005 04:29 PM

But not in the WWE style that HHH and HBK made so famous.

Also...shouldn't Hayes be dead by now or something?

Savio 09-19-2005 04:31 PM

Give him Remies Idea for a gimmick.

No, they're going to keep him though. I'm pretty sure they'd rather keep him in Heat than have him go to TNA, even though they really pose no threat to WWE at the moment.

Fixed.

Anyway, what do you expect from two of the top guys in the company?

Hes's the bitch.

darkincubus 09-19-2005 08:13 PM

Yeah, because we all know that Trips is spectacular in the ring. Michaels is a shell of what he once was.

Damn, how I wish Punk just stayed in the Indies and possibly signed with TNA. The WWE will misuse him to such an extent where it'll make the misuse of Taz look good.

Favre4Ever 09-19-2005 08:16 PM

I have nothing against punk.

Kane Knight 09-19-2005 08:23 PM

Michaels is on fire. What are you smoking?

thecc 09-19-2005 08:37 PM

I do find this odd as before hunter said he liked punk or so I recall.

Michaels is definately a shell of what he once was... which is sad because he is the best in the WWE right now. That just goes to show how amazing he was at his prime, and how you suck at being sarcastic.

Mr. Nerfect 09-19-2005 09:03 PM

I thought Triple H got along fine with Punk backstage? I don't know, but with CM Punk being quite the good worker, and with him being able to get the fans into everything he does, I think Michaels, Triple H and Hayes were just ribbing him. Just sarcastically nitpicking at everything he does as a joke.

I honestly can't see Triple H (who CM Punk oftens remindes me of) saying the kid has no talent. And Shawn Michaels was just in a program with Chris Masters. I like Masters, but in no way can he connect with the fans like CM Punk can.

McLegend 09-19-2005 10:03 PM

All you people who HBk is a shell of what he once was are wrong

Sure he is not as fast as once was and not as Acrobatic, but he can still go in the ring better then ANYONE. With his recent run he's proved that he is among the best ever if not THE BEST.

Also about CM Punk that sucks

Mr. JL 09-19-2005 11:50 PM

Shawn Michaels is in no way a shell of his former self. I do not believe he has lost a step, only some hair. I find it mildly amusing that Shawn Michaels was making fun of CM Punk for not being physically impressive, since it is coming from a guy who has weighed around 215 pounds most his career.

I do think they have a point though. From what I have seen from the WWE CM Punk , he offers nothing to me. They have given him absolutely no character, no gimmick and nothing to work with. How can you ask a guy to connect with the fans in a 5 minute match with no idea of a gimmick or character to work with?

The WWE has obviously not allowed him to be the Indy CM Punk that I saw in ROH. The Indy CM Punk knew how to piss off the crowd and work a professional wrestling match! The reason why he conencted with the fans is because he was allowed to progress his character. He was given microphone time and more than 5 minutes to work the typical WWE Heat armdrag, headlock, suplex, counter suplex, pinfall match.

I am not even a big CM Punk fan but I know he can work a crowd into a frenzy if given an oppertunity.

Kane Knight 09-20-2005 12:02 AM

Michaels has lost a step. Only a single step in his career.

Wtf.. Michaels is fucking gold right now. Even in his DX days I didn't find him this entertaining.

The Naitch 09-20-2005 02:28 AM

If WWE wants they can steal my CM Crunk/Naitch idea.

Corkscrewed 09-20-2005 04:48 AM

lol, I was gonna say they should turn him to CM Crunk. :D

Londoner 09-20-2005 10:21 AM

lol@people syaing HBK isn't as good as he used to be, what aload of crap. Did you guys not see his match at Unforgiven?

Anyway, the WWE should just let CM Punk do what he can, instead of being so fucking controlling over him. This is where they've messed up so many times, they hire wrestlers who they know can be good, yet they want to control them so they themselves can take the credit if it turns out a success. That's what it's about, but as we've seen so many times before, this way doesn't work. This was why I didn't get over excited about the WWE signing him, I knew this would happen.

Or they can give him 70's style entrance music, ripped tights and call him CM Funk.

Cha-ching, ratings!

Give him a basketball gimmick and give him a moveset similar to the Harlem Globetrotters.

CM Dunk.

I take it NONE of you guys got the message I was saying. I was mocking the original poster for saying Shawn Michaels is a former shell of himself. Of course Shawn Michaels is fucking amazing. Shawn Michaels us probably the only reason I watch Raw.

Innovator 09-20-2005 05:54 PM

CM Punk has no gimmick to get over on....

The whole straight edge thing never really got over huh? He wasn't the most over heel in ROH for close to two years, and wasn't the most over face for a year? I guess not

Rob 09-20-2005 06:19 PM

I wouldn't believe everything you read.

Chavo Classic 09-20-2005 06:34 PM

Put his feet in concrete boots and have him try and swim across a tank of water

CM Sunk
