a history of violence

superb. not only has it got ultraviolence, but it also has kinky sex and maria bello in the buff. plus it has a pretty cool story. anyone else seen it yet?

Buzzkill 09-23-2005 08:57 PM

LOVED it.

The Mask 09-24-2005 08:30 AM

MPAA: Rated R for strong brutal violence, graphic sexuality, nudity, language and some drug use.

come on. how awesome?

loopydate 09-24-2005 10:36 AM

Haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to. Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello, and Ed Harris? Come on! How could I turn that down?

Dark-Slicer Diago 09-26-2005 06:16 PM

I don't know, they must be ultra-stupid

AlphaBean 09-27-2005 03:20 AM

LOL, maria bello in the buff reminds me of her and Bill Macy in "the cooler."

Oh man, Macy giving her oral = hottest scene EVER.

The Mask 09-27-2005 07:27 AM

she is like MILF extraordinaire.

mitchables 09-27-2005 08:22 AM

I loved the graphic novel, so I'm really looking forward to this.

Loose Cannon 09-27-2005 10:30 AM

what is this? I haven't seen a preview for it. Like some indy film?

The Mask 09-27-2005 10:47 AM

I don't think it's indy. It's getting advertised in a pretty big way over here. It's made by David Cronenberg too.

Boondock Saint 10-02-2005 12:03 AM

Liked it. :y:

Zen v.W.o. 10-02-2005 12:09 AM

I'm gonna check it out, it's got Viggo.

Lara Emily 10-03-2005 04:10 AM

Wickedly Amazing. Even when doing something more mainstreak Cronenberg delivers what is expected of him, he took a basic story that could have easily been done with a soft-R (14A in Ontario) style and knocked it out of the park with his hard-R (18A in Ontario) style.

Downunder 10-03-2005 10:48 AM

Downloading it now - I'll let you know

YOUR Hero 10-03-2005 11:01 AM

Yeah this looks pretty damned good. If I get the chance I'll go see it.

wwe2222 10-03-2005 12:20 PM

i thought it was ok...average...i wanted it to be better, but something was missing from it...good story idea though...

PapaGeorgio 10-04-2005 02:29 AM

I enjoyed the movie. Saw it day it came out was very impressed. Plus I got first chapter of Graphic Novel free in a little promo book.

El Capitano Gatisto 10-08-2005 05:34 PM

It's a good film.

However, The Jacket is still comfortably the best film I've seen from this year. Followed by Crash.

Triple A 10-08-2005 05:37 PM

I enjoyed it a lot. Mad entertaining and it is such an awesome premise for a movie.

SPOILERS: A mafia dude goes into witness protection and then he kills two robbers at his diner and he becomes a hero and gets his face all in the papers. The mafia then finds out where he is, obviously, and comes after him. BEST SHIT COME ON.

El Capitano Gatisto 10-08-2005 05:40 PM

It wasn't witness protection, you cunt. He just buried his personality.

Triple A 10-08-2005 05:40 PM

WHATEVER "BRO" SAME SHIT.

El Capitano Gatisto 10-08-2005 05:42 PM

No, it's completely different.

Triple A 10-08-2005 05:46 PM

Before trouble finds you.

El Capitano Gatisto 10-08-2005 05:47 PM

Why don't you make me?

Triple A 10-08-2005 05:53 PM

That guy killed like 13 dudes in a span of like a couple days.

El Capitano Gatisto 10-08-2005 06:08 PM

He killed about a few hundred in Lord of the Rings too.

Buzzkill 10-08-2005 06:10 PM

And he had sex on a stair case

Downunder 10-10-2005 10:23 AM

Great bloody movie - I d/l a fairly average screener, can't wait to get a decent copy.

Jason Cage 10-21-2005 10:39 PM

Great movie indeed. Not as violent as everyone makes it out to be though.

Awesomeness by William Hurt.

HERES THE THING THOUGH

Like, was anyone else bothered by the unrealistic way he killed the second guy in the diner? The "hitman" had a shot at Viggo all along -- Viggo did his power ranger jump roll over the counter and grabbed the gun and the hitman just stood there waiting. ==_==

Danny Electric 10-23-2005 10:26 PM

Awesome movie
I just laughed at the fact that he killed all these guys and their didn't seem to be any real investigation :)

Optimus Bone 69 10-24-2005 12:00 AM

great movie

Nark Order 10-24-2005 01:23 AM

wtf? This movie was horrible. It was so anti-climactic. Sickening.

FakeLaser 10-24-2005 01:35 AM

Been meaning to see this for a while now. By a while I mean like a week or two.

John la Rock 10-24-2005 11:39 AM

average at best. 3/4 of the movie should have been deleted scenes

These scenes took a good half of the movie. Were they really necessary?

Jason Cage 10-25-2005 02:09 AM

the following contains SPOILERS so --

well I spose the sex scenes should have been cut down a few minutes since I'm not too sure what the writer(s) was trying to get across. Could have been something, could have been nothing. The whole "giving a backstory on Viggo's character by having us believe that he "never had time to be a teenager" came across, though it was more graphically depicted. Hmm.

But the bully thing, I think it was rather essential as a part of the son "becoming like the father" transition. You see at first he doesn't want to engage in acts of violence. Then the dad does violence--leading the son to do so as well.. Which also lead up to him shooting Ed Harris' character, thus becoming his father.

One scene I thought was seriously long was the opening sequence. Redundant.

Zen v.W.o. 10-25-2005 03:21 AM

There really never is any point to a sex scene anyways. It just adds extra time on to a film I guess. Kinda like car chases in a way..umm, dunno what to do here..oh I know..car chase!

The Mask 10-25-2005 07:54 AM

yeah the opening scene is annoying. I wouldn't have complained about the sex scenes though tbh.
