So will the move to USA actually help WWE?
We all know that there is bound to be some sort of a rise in WWE ratings with this move to USA. It's available in a lot more homes and is more of a mainstream channel. Will probably make WWE seem a lot more acceptable to kids.
However will increased ratings in America actually increase interest in WWE in America? And if it does will this snowball around the rest of the world? I don't see another boom period for a while be IMO WWE is on the up and up. |
How will moving to USA make the WWE seem more acceptable to kids?
And the ratings wouldn't increase the interest in the WWE, the ratings improve BECAUSE of increased interest. No doubt that Homecoming will have a fairly big rating, but after that, the WWE will have to come up with some quality shit, otherwise they'll go back to where they currently are with Spike TV. |
WWE won't hit a boom for a while...not until Vince gets smart again. OK, this is a small example, Chavo didn't want to do the Kerwin gimmick, he was made too...that is the very thing that kept WWE down and almost killed them. WCW had the oposite problem where a few key guys never had to listen to anyone...still it created an interest at first. WWE only got big once again once Steve was allowed to drop the Ringmaster gimmick, Rock didn't have to be Rocky Miavia, Hunter didn't have to be a blue blood etc. People know who they relate to best, case and point once Cena was allowed to be himself with the volume turned up he became huge. Now that doesn't mean that we should just throw our hands up on everyone...hell even during Attitude we had a Porn Star, a Pimp, etc.
The biggest game to be played now is the waiting game. You need to find someone with enough in ring talent, skill on the mic, charisma, and from there you get the fuck out of his way. Now I am not putting them on the same level, hell I don't think TNA is even THAT close to WWE, but they have something in a few key guys...Styles, Daniels, and a few others have something that makes them an attraction and TNA is doing well by letting them go with it on their own terms. I think TNA is still a few years and a major finacial backer (better then Panda) away from challenging WWE, but they are making the right steps in the right direction. |

Well maybe the WWE will make it more acceptable for the kids but I don't really think so, I mean accept for hardcore matches there's not a lot of violence on the show. |
Anyone who thinks WWE on USA will get Attitude Era ratings is dreaming. The USA move won't do much at all.
|
WWE is getting screwed by this deal. The ONLY upside of being on USA is that it is available in more homes.
|
USA is available in more homes, however, when a fucking dog show gets Raw's time slot people will be pissed off.
It'll be a series of big shows, and then a fucking dog show. |

I can't even WATCH Homecoming. I'm going camping with my school at the Chewonki Foundation in Maine, how....LAME. I don't want to go, I want to stay home in my warm house and watch Homecoming, I don't care if it sucks or not, I just don't want to go.

At the end of the day, WWE is losing money buy going to USA as well as losing over 2 hours in TV time. They are also not guaranteed monday night slots during the year like they were on Spike. How does this help?
|
The one thing that USA's parent company(NBC) is gonna do that SPIKE didn't is advertise WWE's ass off. I have seen ads for the return of Raw on NBC, USA, CNBC, and I'm assuming Bravo will have some too. Plus NBC has a small pre-show like thing at some movie theaters across the nation known as "The 20". I saw a movie Saturday night and during "The 20" NBC aired a rather long commercial for Raw.
|
That's true. That's probably one of the few good things about going back to the ________ Nework. More households carry it, and better/more advertising. Other than that, pre-empted RAWs will suck.
As for Velocity and Heat, I tend to miss them all the time on TV. At least if they're on WWE.com, I can watch them whenever it's convenient for me, if I even want to watch them. Personally, for me, that's 3-1 for the move to _____. |
