The power of RAW's ratings

The power of RAW's ratings

This week, Monday Night RAW brought the power of 4 million viewers back to USA Network in prime time.

Monday Night RAW drew a 4.7 rating (up from 3.2 last week on Spike TV), according to the latest Coverage Household Ratings information.

That’s 48 percent higher viewership.

RAW climbed to a 5.0 as Stone Cold Stunned the entire McMahon family. It was a segment that reminded WWE’s fans just what USA programming looks like. The three-hour spectacular also featured the anticipated return of Triple H, a crowd-pleasing WWE Championship Match, an incredible Ladder Match, a show-stopping WWE Iron Man Match and a showdown between members of the RAW and SmackDown rosters.

WWE Homecoming showcased unparalleled star power that included Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, Mick Foley, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and a host of WWE Legends.

The buzz from the show lasted throughout the night, and its ripple effect led to WWE.com's biggest traffic day in recent history.

USA Network enjoyed a marked ratings increase in the time slot now re-occupied by RAW; WWE’s 10 p.m. hour delivered household numbers that tripled the average for programming airing there the prior four weeks.

“The successful return of Monday Night RAW was a great team effort between USA and WWE,” said Gary Davis, WWE Vice President, Corporate Communications. “We wanted to create a phenomenal debut for our fans, and the viewing public responded in a big way. We greatly appreciate that support. It's good to be home again on USA.”

Impressive numbers, I hope this is the beginning of a trend for the WWE.

Londoner 10-05-2005 10:14 AM

A 'crowd-pleasing WWE championship match'. That shows you how bad that match was when they resort to comments like that.

Not surprised at the ratings, glad they actually pulled it off.

Do you hate competition or something?

WTF are you on about sadistic?

Destor 10-05-2005 10:23 AM

Wanting the WWE to do well some how means I don't want competition?

Erm no, if anything its the best thing for wrestling industry. If the WWE starts doing good busienss again, wrestling will hit another boom period, which will make companies like ROH more popular.Right now wrestling isn't as cool as used to be, if the WWE gets that feeling back again, it can only have a positive affect for the industry.

Your a moron.n TNA doesn't even come on at the same time as RAW. So if more people watch RAW it doesn't mean they are going to stop watching TNA. I wish for them both do well. Ultimately if the WWE gets hot again people might start looking for more wrestling, thus turning some WWE viewers to TNA, in theory.

Sadistic 10-05-2005 10:29 AM

Fuck WWE, it's TNA's time to shine. WWE had their chance and all they did was ban moves and give us shit PPV after shit show after shit storylines.

Instead of mocking my grammar how about you make a valid point, or are you incapable of such an action?

JH 10-05-2005 11:16 AM

forget that rating it will be back down to 3.5 next week

He watches CZW, so that's obviously why the only action he is capable of is making himself look like a retard.

How does WWE ratings effect the wrestling industry? TNA ratings and WWE ratings have nothing to do with each other. A higher rating for one does not cause a lower rating for the other or vice versa.

From your doosh bag comment here, you are implying that once people start watching the WWE, then that's it, they got them. And these viewers can never watch TNA because the WWE has then locked.

think before you post please.

V 10-05-2005 04:07 PM

how high were the ratings during the monday night wars?

Jaton 10-05-2005 04:29 PM

I believe the "This is Your Life" segment got as high as 8, not sure on that though.

Jaton 10-05-2005 04:29 PM

In WCW's dying days, they were pulling about what Smackdown does now.

Not true, he's also capable of throwing himself off a building, on fire, wrapped in barbed wire, while wrestling a 'five star match' on a local Alaskan TV station at 2 in the morning where the only viewers are the workers' mothers.

After all, that's what all CZW fans want to do, right?

Yeah, that's all that happens in a Sonjay Dutt vs. CM Punk 20 minute epic.

Yes they do. Now if someone like Zandig or Mondo started a 'wrestling' match I will admitt that the crowd chants 'Boring' but that's only because these guys built a reputation on killing themselves. When it comes to the amazing pro wrestlers that don't do hardcore spots, the fans really do appreciate it.

I'm sorry but even with CM Punk, the words "Sonjay Dutt" and "epic" just don't seem to go together.

Xero 10-05-2005 04:59 PM

Tell me this, how many CZW matches on a show, on average, isn't a spotfest or a garbage match? How many technical matches are there?

Destor 10-05-2005 05:03 PM

His answer will be unrealistic and you know it. He is a CZW mark (wow a mark for a whole company,) he is incapable of making them sound anything less than infallible.

His answers amuse me.

Jaton 10-05-2005 05:05 PM

Ironically enough, he doesn't think WE appreciate wrestling.

Destor 10-05-2005 05:07 PM

Destor 10-05-2005 05:14 PM

How did a thread about RAW ratings end up being a discussion about how bad CZW sucks? Fuckn Sadistic.

Xero 10-05-2005 05:17 PM

Because Sadistic said something retarded that didn't make sense. Much like he always does whenever he opens his big mouth in the wrestling forum.

At the 'Best of the Best' shows there are no deathmatches. They are an annual 12 man junior heavyweight tournament. I liked Best of the Best 4:
1. Jack Evans vs Chri$ Ca$h vs Homicide
2. B-Boy vs Jimmy Rave vs Roderick Strong
3. Ruckus vs Alex Shelley vs Bobby Quance
4. "Spyder" Nate Webb vs Petey Williams vs Sonjay Dutt
5. Chris Hero vs Hotstuff Hernandez
6. Homicide vs Jack Evans
7. Roderick Strong vs B-Boy
8. Alex Shelley vs Bobby Quance
9. Sonjay Dutt vs Petey Williams
10. Nick Gage vs Dan Maff
11. Homicide vs Roderick Strong
12. Sonjay Dutt vs Bobby Quance
13. Jimmy Rave vs Ruckus vs Chri$ Ca$h vs "Spyder" Nate Webb
14. Roderick Strong vs Sonjay Dutt

BTW Chavo started this discussion.

Xero 10-05-2005 05:21 PM

Allow me to repeat that. How many CZW matches ON A SHOW isn't a spotfest/garbage match. Not a DVD, and not a fucking tournament or special show. A regular CZW show.

Isn't it sad that I have to use the term 'special show' when talking about a normal wrestling event in CZW?
