Most underrated gimmick
 

I was thinking back to the late 80's to mid 90s and couldn't shake the fact that there were so many bizzare gimmicks. The Warlord, Bezerker, Skinner, Duke the Dumpster, ect. I think the best that got a little push but nothing huge was the Repo Man. That gimmick was great but it didn't really go too far. What do you guys think is or was the most underrated gimmick in the WWF/E?

Waylon Mercy - he was just plain cool. To the point that years later, Lance Cade is stealing his catchphrase.

True. But i think nowadays gimmicks are out the window. gimmicks are just stupid now. These days wrestlers dont even use fake names unless they're from the attitude era (examples : Batitsa, orton, cena, bobby lashley, etc.). The one gimmick that is out there right now is MNM and thats just pathetic. Go figure why smackdown is suffering. The Undertaker gimmick is great though.

To me, its kinda boring that everyone is just "John Cena" or "Randy Orton" Wrestling as a form of entertainment in a way kinda needs to be over the top. Gimmicks do that. I'd like to see them bring certain gimmicks to the table, only not stupid shit like Doink the clown or anything, that would never fly.

Yeah but you also have to figure. We're in a different era now. Maybe the hardcore guys want gimmicks back, but it's just not what's big now.
